There\u2019s\u200d a floor vote on whether or not to open the inquiries, but it\u2019s important to note the inquiry \u200bis not constitutionally required.\u2064 The House is however required to vote \u200con each article of impeachment, and a majority vote of \u200bthe entire\u2064 House is required to pass each article. The Senate will then \u200dhold \u2064an impeachment trial and a two-thirds vote is required to convict on any article of impeachment. If convicted, the\u200d official is \u2064removed and barred \u2064from \u200cholding \u2062office.<\/p>\n<p>The House has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-msnbc-asks-congresswoman-accused-of-sexual-harassment-how-to-solve-cuomos-sexual-harassment\/\" title=\"WATCH: MSNBC Asks Congresswoman Accused of Sexual Harassment How to Solve Cuomo\u2019s Sexual Harassment\">initiated impeachment proceedings<\/a> over 60 times, but only in one instance has skipped the \u2062Judiciary Committee\u2019s inquiry. Daniel Freeman, a professor at\u2063 American\u2064 University, handled four\u2064 impeachments and saw several resolutions during\u2062 his time on the Hill. He detailed\u2064 how former President Donald Trump\u2019s second impeachment for his alleged role in the\u200c Jan. 6\u2063 attack on the U.S. Capitol was \u2063the first \u2064of its kind.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThere have been some instances where \u200bsomebody has sought to take up a question of privilege, which is, an impeachment resolution is a \u200dquestion of high privilege, directly onto the floor without any committee action. \u2063And the only time that&#8217;s been done is on the second Trump impeachment,\u201d Freeman told the Washington Examiner. Freeman served over three \u200cdecades as counsel \u2062and parliamentarian to the \u2064House Judiciary and \u200cInternational Relations Committees.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump was\u200b acquitted on all counts by the Senate\u2062 in \u2063both his impeachment cases in 2019 and 2021.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThings have changed dramatically, what we \u200bused to call the norms of government \u2014 there&#8217;s\u200b no more norms \u2064of government,\u201d Freeman continued. \u200b\u201cFormer\u2062 President Trump\u200b has kind\u200d of changed all \u2064of the \u2064rules about what&#8217;s expected of people and what they&#8217;re \u200csupposed to do.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>President Joe \u200dBiden<\/h2>\n<p>Republicans have been floating the possibility of\u2064 impeaching Biden since soon \u200dafter he\u200b took office in\u2064 2021, filing over a \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-administration-officials-who-have-faced-impeachment-threats-this-year\/\" title=\"Biden officials facing impeachment threats this year.\">dozen separate impeachment resolutions<\/a> against the president.<\/p>\n<p>As \u200cof\u200d September, there was a total \u2063of six separate impeachment resolutions \u200dpending.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps \u2064one of the most \u2062vocal House members to \u200curge Biden\u2019s impeachment has been Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who, in May, introduced the \u200bfirst impeachment \u2064resolution since\u2063 Republicans \u200bgained control of the House. Greene\u2019s\u200b resolution related \u200dto the\u2063 sitting president\u2019s handling of\u2063 border security. The same day, Rep. Bill Posey (R-FL) introduced articles of impeachment against Biden for similar reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Andy Ogles \u2064(R-TN) submitted articles \u200bof impeachment accusing Biden \u200bof \u201chigh \u2063crimes and misdemeanors\u201d related to allegations of misconduct between Biden\u2019s family members and \u200bforeign \u200dbusinesses. Republicans are in the\u2062 midst of investigating Biden family members\u2063 and \u200cthe president&#8217;s son,\u2064 Hunter Biden, who sat on the board of Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. \u2062Lauren Boebert\u200c (R-CO) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-plan-post-midterms-biden-impeachment-plans\/\" title=\"Republicans Plan Post-Midterms Biden Impeachment Plans\">introduced impeachment articles<\/a> against\u200d Biden in June for his handling of immigration at \u2062the Southern\u2064 border. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy \u200d(R-CA) negotiated with Boebert \u200dto send \u2063the articles to the Judiciary Committee and its Homeland Security\u200c Committee for review, but no vote has been taken by the full House on impeachment.\u2064 Rep. \u2064Chip Roy\u2064 (R-TX) \u200dreferred Boebert&#8217;s articles\u200c of impeachment to the House committees.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy reportedly wants to start the process \u200bof\u2063 an\u200c impeachment inquiry by the \u200dend of September,\u200d with\u200c talks of the House skipping\u2064 the Judiciary Committee \u2064approval steps. However, even \u200dby skipping\u2064 a\u2062 floor vote\u2063 on the injury, the House \u200ccould still \u200black the 218 votes to move the impeachment to the Senate.<\/p>\n<h2>Vice President Kamala Harris<\/h2>\n<p>At the \u2064same time Ogles introduced articles of impeachment against\u2063 Biden in June,\u200b he filed to impeach \u2064Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her \u200bincompetent \u2064and blaming her for allowing \u201cthe land invasion at our southern border \u200cto continue \u200bunchecked.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Defense Secretary<\/h2>\n<p>Last week, Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) pushed to impeach Secretary of\u2062 Defense Lloyd\u200c Austin over\u2063 the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.\u200d The\u200b Biden-nominated 28th secretary\u2063 of\u200c defense has been facing impeachment threats \u200dafter the withdrawal in 2021, \u2063with Mills stating \u200dhe \u2064drafted articles on impeachment in\u2064 March during a House Armed Services Committee hearing.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2064resolution blames Austin&#8217;s actions for \u2063the &#8220;unnecessary deaths&#8221; of Americans\u2062 during \u2063the withdrawal, in which \u200d13 U.S. service members were killed \u2062in\u2062 a suicide bombing at \u2064the Abbey Gate outside Kabul&#8217;s Hamid \u200cKarzai International Airport.<\/p>\n<h2>Homeland Security\u2063 Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas<\/h2>\n<p>Republican members have a long-anticipated goal\u200d to \u2064launch an impeachment inquiry into \u200cHomeland Security\u200c Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas \u200bover southern border policies. Rep. Andy\u2062 Biggs (R-AZ) filed one of the impeachment resolutions into Mayorkas at the beginning of this year, picking up dozens of\u2062 GOP cosponsors. In\u2064 June,\u2063 Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) introduced articles\u200c of impeachment, further accusing Mayorkas of \u2062mismanaging the U.S.-Mexico border crisis.<\/p>\n<p>House \u200dHomeland Security Committee \u2064Republicans released a 112-page report in \u200cJuly accusing Mayorkas of failure to discharge the duties of his office and misleading Congress and the American people on the border crisis, leading to high immigration levels.<\/p>\n<h2>Attorney\u200c General\u200c Merrick\u200d Garland<\/h2>\n<p>Greene\u200c introduced articles of impeachment\u200d against Attorney General Merrick Garland\u2064 in May,\u2063 accusing the \u2064top prosecutor of weaponizing the justice\u200c system. Greene\u2019s pending resolution says the \u201cpoliticization of the DOJ has resulted in the persecution\u200d of\u200c the left\u2019s political enemies \u200cand a two<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-reps-denied-entry-to-dc-jail-holding-jan-6-defendants\/\" title=\"Republicans Reps Denied Entry To DC Jail Holding Jan. 6 Defendants\">-tiered justice system<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She cited different instances under Garland\u2019s tenure\u2062 as justification for impeachment, \u200bincluding going after\u2064 Trump for political reasons. Greene\u2064 filed articles of \u200cimpeachment \u200dagainst Garland in \u20622022 after the FBI\u200b searched\u2062 Trump\u2019s \u200cMar-a-Lago\u2062 estate \u2064in Florida.<\/p>\n<h2>FBI Director \u200dChristopher Wray<\/h2>\n<p>FBI Director Christopher\u200d Wray was another\u200d target of Greene in May, when she introduced articles and picked \u200bup multiple \u200bGOP co-sponsors.
