Nine \u200bof them expressed support for\u2063 Mr. Burgum, who has been the governor of North Dakota since 2016, while three declined to comment.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn Kessel, who served as \u200dinterim commerce commissioner of North Dakota and is now the state&#8217;s \u200ddeputy commerce commissioner, said\u200d in an email that he is\u200b supporting Mr. Burgum&#8217;s candidacy because the businessman-turned-governor &#8220;is one\u2063 of the smartest people I know&#8221; and due to &#8220;his vision and his philosophy \u200dof &#8216;innovation over regulation,&#8217; his focus and understanding of economics, his understanding of the value of small towns in the United States \u2063(especially as it relates to \u2064workforce) and the \u2062practicality he brings to the energy discussion.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pam \u2063Sharp, who led the \u200cNorth Dakota \u200cOffice of Management and Budget, said she is backing Mr. Burgum&#8217;s run\u2062 for the White House &#8220;because I absolutely do not want Donald\u2063 Trump to get the nomination.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Leann Bertsch, former North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation director, said that\u2062 she is supporting her former boss as &#8220;he is a wonderful governor and an amazing leader.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our country needs an intelligent and thoughtful person like\u2064 Governor Burgum to lead our nation,&#8221; she added.<\/p>\n<p>Mylynn Tufte, who \u2063led the Peace Garden State&#8217;s health department, \u2064remarked \u2064she is\u200b &#8220;enthusiastically supporting&#8221; Mr. Burgum.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019ve witnessed firsthand his \u2063level of leadership and know\u200c that he has the knowledge, courage and passion to do \u2064what\u2019s right for\u2062 the American people\u2026just like he\u2019s done for North Dakotans,&#8221; \u200dshe said. &#8220;His platform of the economy, energy and national security are important items that will advance health,\u2063 safety\u200b and well-being for\u200b all.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Josh Teigen, who is North Dakota&#8217;s commerce commissioner, stated he &#8220;unequivocally support[s] his boss&#8217; run.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No\u200c one is better suited to lead this country than Doug Burgum,&#8221; he said.\u200c &#8220;A Burgum presidency would lead our country to\u200c new \u2063heights of energy \u2062security, \u2063national security, and economic prosperity for all\u200c Americans. Burgum has the ability to unite both \u200bsides\u200c of\u200d the\u200b aisle, which is needed\u2064 more than ever in DC.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Bill Panos, who led the North Dakota\u200b Department of Transportation, said\u200c he is &#8220;very supportive&#8221; of Mr. Burgum&#8217;s\u200b candidacy. He did not respond\u200c to a follow-up request for comment to \u2064elaborate on \u2063why he supports his former boss.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Morrissette, who was the director of the North Dakota Office of Management and Budget, said he backs Mr. Burgum&#8217;s run and, while not involved in the\u200c campaign, he donated to his campaign.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I appreciate his common sense approach to economic\u200c policy and energy \u2063policy,&#8221; he \u200bsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Scott Davis, who was executive \u200bdirector\u2064 of the North Dakota Indian Affairs Commission, cited Mr. Burgum&#8217;s &#8220;work ethic, his strong policy background \u200don economics, health care, infrastructure, education, oil and energy\u200b gas&#8221; and the governor as an assessable\u200b leader as \u200bthe reasons behind his support of Mr. Burgum&#8217;s\u2062 candidacy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u200c see candidate Burgum as the only candidate out there that is wanting to direct his resources, his campaign efforts towards a new country,&#8221; he said. \u200b&#8221;And I\u2062 told him that would\u2062 assist him on that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Davis also cited\u2062 Mr. Burgum&#8217;s experience in reaching out to North Dakota&#8217;s Indian tribes and, when\u2063 it comes to the foreign policy he lacks as governor, Mr. Burgum&#8217;s\u2062 global business experience.<\/p>\n<p>Shawn Riley, who\u200c was North Dakota&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/diversity-is-one-of-our-greatest-strengths-navy-under-review-for-proper-equity-inclusion\/\" title=\"\u2018Diversity Is One Of Our Greatest Strengths\u2019: Navy Under Review For Proper \u2018Equity,\u2019 \u2018Inclusion\u2019\">chief information officer<\/a>, said he supports Mr. Burgum&#8217;s run for the Oval Office as he \u200b&#8221;is a\u200c true servant \u200bleader&#8221; and\u200c &#8220;sets pride and ego aside and honestly \u2063works to help people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;His policies are common sense and \u2064truly\u2064 push America back to a prosperous future,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Cheri \u200bSchoenfish, who was North Dakota&#8217;s first Chief People Officer, said she supports Mr. Burgum&#8217;s run for president.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I \u2062have witnessed, first hand, Doug&#8217;s leadership skills for over 30 years,&#8221; she said.\u200c &#8220;He \u200chas the unique ability\u200c to listen,\u200d learn and unite people. I do believe that is\u200b what our country needs right now.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kelsey Roth, who succeeded Ms. Schoenfish, and\u2063 Susan Sisk, who \u200bheads North Dakota&#8217;s Office of \u200dManagement and Budget, declined to comment. Maj. Gen. Alan \u2062Dohrmann, the adjutant general of the North Dakota National Guard, declined to \u2062comment in accordance with \u200cThe Hatch Act,\u2063 which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/where-cabinet-members-of-gop-presidential-candidates-stand-on-2024\/\" title=\"GOP Presidential Candidates' Cabinet Members' Positions on 2024\">includes prohibiting federal \u200cofficials<\/a> from endorsing a candidate.<\/p>\n<h2>Haley<\/h2>\n<p>For Ms. Haley, who served as South Carolina governor between 2011 and\u200c 2017, just seven of her 36 former cabinet members responded to whether they are\u2064 supporting her or would support her if she becomes the GOP nominee (William B. Byars, Jr.,\u2062 who headed the Palmetto State&#8217;s Department of Juvenile Justice and Department of \u2062Corrections, died in 2019). Six of them said they are backing her quest to become America&#8217;s \u2062first\u2062 female president.<\/p>\n<p>Those \u200dwho are\u200c supporting her in the primary provided \u2064reasons from executive experience to characteristics such as leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Richele Taylor, who served\u2062 as South Carolina&#8217;s\u200b Director\u2064 of Labor, Licensing and Regulation,\u2064 called\u200b Ms. Haley &#8220;a straight\u200d shooter who\u200c gets things done&#8221; and cited that as governor, &#8220;she handled pressing issues and was not afraid to take on difficult topics and solve problems.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She\u2062 also inspires her team to work as hard as she does,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Holly Pisarik, who succeeded Ms. Taylor and was Ms. Haley&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/a-different-kind-of-gun-grabbing\/\" title=\"A Different Kind of Gun-Grabbing\">chief legal counsel<\/a>, cited Ms. Haley&#8217;s &#8220;deep love for\u2063 our state and country, ability to lead through prosperous and difficult times, toughness to stand up \u2062for what is right, and unwavering commitment to making \u200dus a stronger nation&#8221; and that &#8220;she is \u200cwhat our country needs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Shwedo, the executive director of the\u200b Palmetto State&#8217;s Department of Motor Vehicles, remarked that she &#8220;was expert\u2062 at providing\u200b intent, guidance and oversight that empowered members of the cabinet&#8221; and that she got the \u2063job done in times of need.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Shwedo, \u200cwho called himself an unconditional supporter of Ms. Haley, said that &#8220;during periods \u200bof disaster, she was able to provide &#8216;strategic&#8217;\u200b guidance to guarantee not only the fastest recovery of any state I am aware of, but ensured both \u2064state and federal money went to \u200bthose with the greatest need.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cheryl Stanton, who was executive director of the South Carolina Department \u2064of Employment and Workforce, simply said she\u2062 is supporting her former \u200bboss. She declined\u2064 to elaborate on the \u2064record.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony Keck, who led the South Carolina Department \u2062of Health and Human Services, said that Ms. Haley &#8220;consistently prioritized \u200dthe concerns of her constituents above all else.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And, as an American, \u2064I am so proud that she stood up to Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea as our Ambassador to the [United Nations].&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Duane Parrish, the director\u200b of the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation &#038; Tourism, is supporting Ms. Haley&#8217;s \u2064candidacy due to her leadership,\u200d namely in times of need, \u2063her genuineness, and for bettering the Palmetto\u2062 State&#8217;s economy.<\/p>\n<p>Kela Thomas, who led the South \u200cCarolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services and is now\u200c a state magistrate judge, declined to comment as the magistrate&#8217;s office said she is ethically prohibited from supporting any \u2064candidate.<\/p>\n<h2>Christie<\/h2>\n<p>For Mr. Christie, who was New\u2063 Jersey&#8217;s governor between 2010 and 2018, \u2064of his 51 former cabinet members, just four responded (Jamie Fox, who led New Jersey&#8217;s transportation department, died in 2017). All said they are supporting his presidential campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Former Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno (R-N.J.) is supporting her former boss&#8217; campaign. She did not respond to a follow-up \u200brequest\u200b asking why she \u2063supports Mr. Christie&#8217;s bid.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff, who was the \u200dGarden State&#8217;s treasurer, said\u2062 that\u200d Mr. Christie is &#8220;a strong leader of integrity, intellect,\u200d and practical center-right\u2063 moderation&#8221; and &#8220;has the vision, energy, and skills to\u2062 move the Republican Party beyond Donald Trump and our bitterly divided country forward.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mary O&#8217;Dowd, \u2062who was\u200c the commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Health,\u200d said she &#8220;strongly&#8221; backs Mr. Christie&#8217;s campaign and remarked that &#8220;it&#8217;s refreshing to have a pragmatic leader talking about how to bring \u2064people with different perspectives together to solve the \u200bdifficult problems facing the American people.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Christie has a clear record of doing just that in New Jersey.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gary Lanigan, who was the commissioner of the Garden State&#8217;s Department of Corrections, remarked that Mr. Christie&#8217;s &#8220;handling \u200cof Hurricane Sandy is an excellent example\u200d of \u2062his \u2063ability to\u2064 rise\u200d above \u2062party politics for the good\u2063 of the citizens.&#8221; \u2062He cited Mr. Christie&#8217;s experience reaching across the aisle.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;His handshake with President [Barack] Obama and close work with Senate President [Stephen] \u200cSweeney are examples of his ability to reach across the aisle and achieve results,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I think this is \u200cexactly what our country needs today.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Pence<\/h2>\n<p>For Mr. Pence, who was gover<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While many former members of Donald Trump&#8217;s cabinet remain silent or refuse to express support for him, a significant number of those who served in the cabinets of other GOP presidential candidates show greater loyalty.
