Appeals \u2062Court ruled, as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/is-the-democrats-election-heist-too-big-to-fail\/\" title=\"Is the Democrats\u2019 Election Heist \u2018Too Big to Fail\u2019?\">lower court<\/a> did in July, that the former\u2064 president \u200bcould testify.<\/p>\n<p>Former FBI \u2063agent Peter Strzok sued the agency, alleging wrongful termination, and former \u2063FBI personnel Lisa Page is suing the agency, alleging invasion of privacy. The two were \u200bspotlighted \u2063in the &#8220;Russiagate&#8221;\u2063 scandal, where the agency investigated\u200d ties between the former president and\u2064 Russia in the 2016 elections and\u2063 ultimately could not bring charges. Text messages between \u2062Mr. Strzok and Ms. Page\u200d were \u200dpublicized, revealing their bias\u200d against the then-presidential candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Strzok had led the \u2064investigation\u200b into President Trump, and the DOJ later concluded that \u2064the bias revealed\u200d &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/article\/fbi-fires-peter-strzok-poster-child-for-troubled-russia-probe-2622690\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cast a \u2062cloud<\/a>&#8221; \u200dover\u2064 the\u200d investigation. U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, an\u2064 appointee of former President Barack Obama, had allowed a stay on deposing President\u200b Trump \u2064in the \u2063meantime.<\/p>\n<p>Then, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/judge-says-trump-can-be-deposed-in-former-fbi-agent-peter-strzok-lawsuit-5379830\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in June,<\/a> following a \u200brequest from Mr. Strzok&#8217;s team\u2063 and opposition from the DOJ, Judge \u2062Jackson \u200druled that President Trump could be deposed, given the \u2064&#8221;limited nature&#8221; of the deposition and the fact that the former president, \u2062who\u200d is now campaigning \u200cfor the 2024 presidency,\u2062 seemed to have time in his schedule &#8220;to be able \u200dto accommodate other civil litigation that he has initiated.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ argued that there was \u2063no evidence Mr. Strzok&#8217;s firing had to do \u2063with President Trump. The FBI had stated,\u200d when Mr. Strzok was terminated, that the agent was\u200b &#8220;subject to \u200bthe standard FBI review \u200cand disciplinary process&#8221; prior to\u200b the decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnly the most extraordinary of circumstances would justify allowing a \u200cplaintiff to depose a former high-level official about actions he took in \u2062the course of his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/two-proud-boys-indicted-on-conspiracy-charges-for-alleged-role-in-u-s-capitol-riot\/\" title=\"Two Proud Boys Indicted On Conspiracy Charges For Alleged Role In U.S. Capitol Riot\">official duties<\/a>. This \u200ccase falls far short of that standard,\u201d \u200cthe department \u200cargued in appellate court after \u200bJudge Jackson upheld her ruling to allow the deposition of \u2062President Trump.<\/p>\n<p>They argued that \u2062former White\u200b House Chief of Staff John Kelly, and \u200bMr. Wray, have \u2063already testified, rendering the deposition unnecessary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStrzok hardly needs to \u200bconfirm whether\u2062 the President expressed the same views in meetings in the Oval Office,\u201d \u2063the DOJ added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The DOJ&#8217;s appeal to prevent ex-President Trump from being deposed in a lawsuit was denied by the D.C.
