Otherwise, they\u2019ll work the Comic-Con circuit peddling\u2064 autographs\u2062 tied to their glory days \u200dor just hope\u200b the phone will \u2063ring \u200bone more \u200ctime.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tell that to Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Stallone, 77, and Schwarzenegger, 76, \u2063once went\u200d head-to-head at the U.S. \u2064box office. Now, they\u2019re still going strong, landing \u2063lead roles\u200c and flexing the star \u200dpower\u200c that\u200c first lit up decades\u200c ago.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">They even \u200chave dueling \u200cdocumentaries that\u200c capture their larger-than-life careers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s almost like\u200b the 1980s\u200b never ended. But\u2064 why can\u2019t we\u200d let go of the pair\u2062 and \u200cbond with\u200c younger stars still in their\u2063 industry prime?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Nostalgia\u2063 plays a \u2062part, no doubt. The actors are keenly aware of their \u200dimage, and that hasn\u2019t \u200cebbed over time. They\u2019re populist figures who win the day\u200d by the third act.\u200c They rarely cast themselves against \u2063type, knowing \u2064audiences\u2062 expect a certain\u2063 performance \u2064from them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Stallone\u200c is still\u2064 licking his \u200dprofessional wounds from comedic duds like \u201cOscar\u201d and \u201cStop,\u200b Or My Mom Will \u200cShoot.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">They\u2019re loathe\u2063 to disappoint\u200d the\u200b very fans \u2062that kept their\u2063 careers afloat for more than \u200b80\u200b years, \u2063combined.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And, most shocking\u200c of all,\u2062 few modern stars can compete with \u2063these senior citizens. They\u2019ve\u2064 been neutered by cries\u2063 of \u201ctoxic masculinity,\u201d something Stallone and\u2063 Schwarzenegger would never let happen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Schwarzenegger\u2019s comeback may be the\u200b more surprising. He ditched Hollywood for politics as his A-list status\u200c was fading, becoming California\u2019s last Republican governor in\u2064 2003. \u2062He left politics after his second term and went back\u200b to Hollywood.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Except his fan base wasn\u2019t eager for his return, at least not yet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Films like \u200b\u201cThe Last Stand\u201d ($12 million), \u200b\u201cSabotage\u201d ($10 million) and \u201cEscape Plan\u201d ($25 million) \u200chardly\u2064 lit the\u200d box \u200coffice ablaze. Even his two \u201cTerminator\u201d sequels, \u201cGenisys\u201d and \u201cDark \u2064Fate,\u201d drew\u200b modest crowds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He\u200c kept plugging away, turning\u200d in credible turns in the indie horror movie \u201cMaggie\u201d and \u200b\u201cDark Fate,\u201d despite the latter reducing him to a secondary role. He\u200b stole the\u200d film anyway.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Then a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/counting-down-the-7-worst-contracts-in-mlb-history\/\" title=\"Counting Down The 7 Worst Contracts In MLB History\">funny thing happened<\/a> to\u200c the former\u2062 Mr. Olympia.\u200b Netflix gave \u2062his career a second life. Not \u200conly has he played Rocky Balboa again in two successful \u201cCreed\u201d films, he\u2019s kept busy with both \u201cRambo\u201d and\u200d \u201cExpendables\u201d sequels. The fourth film in the \u2064latter \u200dseries drops in September.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Last year, he headlined the Amazon\u200c Prime original\u2064 \u201cSamaritan,\u201d \u200bbut\u200c his best role in ages came courtesy of \u201cYellowstone\u201d overlord Taylor Sheridan. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The writer\/director\u2019s \u201cTulsa King\u201d \u2063cast Stallone as an aging New\u2062 York\u2063 gangster farmed out to Oklahoma to \u200dstay far, far \u200baway from the rest of the mobsters.\u200b Except Dwight\u2062 Manfredi tames Tulsa in short \u200border, causing\u200d new problems for \u2062his old \u201cfamily.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sheridan is\u2062 known for avoiding woke storytelling\u200c tics, but his \u200b\u201cTulsa King\u201d brings something else to the\u200b TV landscape. We can\u2019t help \u2063but \u2064admire\u2063 his brio. \u2062It\u2019s \u2062infectious, and \u200cwhile we \u200ddon\u2019t condone his\u2063 illegal antics it\u2019s \u2062comforting to \u200csee \u200chim flex his \u2064power.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That\u200c he often does so to\u200c protect women, especially his grown\u2064 daughter, makes \u200cthat masculinity even more \u200cappealing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How many younger stars could\u200b pull that off?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The actor earned sold notices for his performance in the show along with a second season renewal, and he\u2019s about\u200c to get another blast of fame. Netflix\u2064 will debut \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/title\/81450717\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sly<\/a>,\u201d a documentary capturing his \u200dcolorful career,\u200d on November \u200b3.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Stallone and Schwarzenegger \u2064aren\u2019t the only\u200c aging \u200dstars \u2064the public \u200dcraves.
