(Photo by Win McNamee\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>OAN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/tag\/daniel-baldwin\">Daniel Baldwin<\/a><br \/>11:48 AM \u2013 Friday, September 1, 2023<\/p>\n<p>West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey continues to support \u2064a change of venue for 45<sup>th <\/sup>President \u200dDonald Trump\u2019s federal trial scheduled for March 4, 2024,\u200c the day before Super Tuesday, in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cI think that this would be a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wv-ag-morrisey-moving-pres-trumps-trial-from-dc-to-west-virginia-would-be-good-for-everyone\/\" title=\"WV AG Morrisey: Shifting Trump's Trial to West Virginia Benefits All\">highly prejudicial tribunal<\/a>,\u201d Morrisey \u2062told One America News. \u201cI\u2019m very concerned about that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As it stands, every single Jan. 6 defendant to receive a jury trial in the \u2063nation\u2019s capital has been found guilty. Morrisey says while it is normally traditional to try defendants in the specific area where the alleged crimes were committed, there are exceptions.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThere are instances in our nation\u2019s history and \u2064in a number of them where the court has moved the venue in order to assure that there\u2019s going to be fairness in\u200c the process,\u201d Morrisey said. \u201cI think that\u2019s all we\u2019re \u200dasking \u2064to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/dcboe.org\/CMSPages\/GetFile.aspx?guid=6a4778e4-4b06-47e7-9946-94e01cb0196e\">DC Board of Elections<\/a>, less than \u2062six percent of the voters registered as Republicans as of July 31, 2023. In the 2020 election, more than 90% of the nation\u2019s capital\u200c voted for President Joe Biden. Trump has previously pushed for \u200dthe venue to be moved to\u2063 West \u200bVirginia.\u200b Morrisey argues \u200cthat doing so would be in the interest of not \u200conly Trump, but also the prosecution.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cImagine if you could \u2064get a conviction in one of the districts in West Virginia at one of the \u2063courthouses,\u201d \u200cMorrisey said. \u201cThat would be significant, and you\u2019d \u2063probably take away the ability of the defendant to\u200b prevail on \u2062appeal.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you proceed in Washington, DC,\u200c the odds of the government winning on appeal I don\u2019t think\u200d are\u200b terribly high. I think this could be good for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump\u2019s attorneys\u2062 have stated they will be filing a flurry of pretrial motions before the deadline of Oct. 9, 2023. Trump attorney John \u2063Lauro indicated among those would be a motion to change\u200b the venue.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cFairness means fairness for the prosecution and for the defense,\u201d Morrisey \u200cexplained. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump has emphasized that having the \u200ctrial in March\u2062 2024 would be another example of\u2062 election interference. Morrisey would agree.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cI\u200d think President Trump, like any defendant,\u200c deserves his day in court,\u201d Morrisey said. \u201cIt\u200c needs\u200c to be fair.
