Dominic J. Pezzola, hailing \u200dfrom Rochester, used a stolen\u200c police riot shield\u200d to \u2064smash open a window on \u200cthe Senate\u200d side \u2062of the Capitol. This reduction was\u2062 made even though the judge added a terrorism enhancement for two\u200c of the \u200ccriminal\u2064 counts. Pezzola&#8217;s defense had suggested\u2063 a five-year\u200c sentence would be \u200cmore appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>This sentencing \u2064follows a\u200d similar approach taken by Judge Kelly on August \u206431, when he \u2062sentenced other \u2064Proud \u2063Boys\u2064 leaders, Joseph \u2064Biggs and Zachary \u2064Rehl, to 17 \u2064and 15 years in\u200c prison, respectively. Prosecutors had sought much longer sentences for both \u2064individuals. \u200bThe\u200c sentencing for other top\u200c Proud Boys leaders, Henry &#8220;Enrique&#8221; Tarrio and Ethan Nordean, is still pending.<\/p>\n<p>During the sentencing hearing, Pezzola&#8217;s\u2064 mother, daughters, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/proud-boys-lieutenant-dominic-pezzola-sentenced-to-10-years-in-prison-for-jan-6\/\" title=\"Proud Boys Lieutenant Dominic Pezzola gets 10-year prison term for Jan. 6.\">wife made\u200d emotional appeals<\/a> to Judge Kelly, pleading for mercy. Pezzola&#8217;s wife, Lisa Magee,\u200c tearfully described\u2064 the financial hardships they \u200chave faced, the loss of friends and family due to the publicity surrounding January 6,\u200c and her\u2063 own struggles to find employment.<\/p>\n<p>Apologizing for his actions, Pezzola expressed remorse to his family \u2064and the police. He acknowledged\u2064 that he made a grave mistake on January 6\u200b and stated that he has no intention of being involved in any\u200c extremist groups or politics\u2064 in the future.<\/p>\n<p>In \u200ca sentencing \u2064memorandum submitted to Judge Kelly, \u2064prosecutors revealed that Pezzola had\u200c joined the \u2064Proud Boys in November 2020 with \u200cthe \u200cintention\u2063 of engaging in\u2062 political violence.<\/p>\n<h2>&#8216;Willing to Fight&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>According to the memorandum, Pezzola&#8217;s journal entry stated, \u2062&#8221;There\u200d are many reasons why I want \u200cto join the PBs,&#8221; and he\u2063 professed \u2064his willingness\u200d to\u2064 fight until his \u2062last\u2063 breath to prevent his children from inheriting what he believed would be a\u2063 communist country. He \u2063emphasized his\u2064 physical fitness, his ability to\u200d be anywhere at any time, and\u2062 his view of the political situation as a \u2062battle between good and evil, requiring patriots \u200dto stand up and reclaim their God-given liberties, just as the Founders did.<\/p>\n<p>The window on the Senate\u200d Wing that Pezzola smashed became the first breach point into the Capitol. (U.S. \u200cDOJ\/Screenshot via The Epoch\u200c Times)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Prosecutors highlighted that Pezzola admitted \u200con cross-examination that he smashed the window because he believed it\u200b would be \u200da way to make the government listen to him.<\/p>\n<p>Using\u2063 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/marvel-introduces-a-new-gay-superhero-captain-america\/\" title=\"Marvel Introduces A New Gay Superhero: Captain America\">stolen shield<\/a>, Pezzola targeted the two lower panes of tempered glass\u200b after another rioter had\u200b already punched a hole in the\u200b right side of the window\u200c with a\u200b 2-by-4. Once the glass was shattered, \u2064people began jumping through\u2062 the \u200cwindow \u2063into\u2063 the Capitol.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors argued that only a lengthy\u200d prison term would \u200ddeter \u200bPezzola from \u200bcommitting further \u2062crimes. They cited an interview he gave \u2064after the jury verdicts \u200bin May, where he \u200creferred to the trial \u2062as a &#8220;complete sham&#8221; and claimed that the Constitution had been &#8220;shredded&#8221; and\u200b &#8220;re-legislated from the bench&#8221;\u200c to secure convictions.<\/p>\n<h2>Radical Leftist Jury?<\/h2>\n<p>Furthermore, \u200cPezzola alleged that the jury consisted\u2063 of &#8220;all radical leftists&#8221; who either \u200bsupported \u200dLGBTQ rights or the Black\u200b Lives Matter movement.
