His attorney recorded him for an upcoming \u2062documentary\u2063 about his crimes,\u200b resulting in\u2063 the\u2062 loss of his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-an-inside-look-at-cnn-the-cable-networks-premium-streaming-service-launching-in-2022\/\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE: An Inside Look at CNN+, the Cable Network\u2019s Premium Streaming Service Launching in 2022\">phone privileges<\/a> and access to his prison\u200d tablet\u200d computer.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Your actions, \u200bwhether \u200cyou intended or not,\u200c assisted Mr. Murdaugh in violating our policy and could jeopardize your telephonic communications with him in the future,&#8221;\u200d Dennis Patterson, South Carolina Department of Corrections assistant deputy director of operations, wrote in an email to \u2064Griffin on August 30.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A prison incident report,\u200d obtained by the\u2063 New York\u2063 Post, accused Murdaugh of &#8220;willingly and\u2063 knowingly&#8221; abusing his privileges to \u200bcommunicate \u200dwith the news media for his own gain. This incident occurred\u2064 on \u2064June 10 \u2064when\u200d Murdaugh&#8217;s attorney, Jim Griffin, \u2063recorded him\u2064 reading passages from a journal he kept throughout \u200chis \u200dtrial \u2062for killing his wife Maggie \u2064and youngest son Paul in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The recordings were intended to be shared with Fox News, which is \u2064airing a three-part docuseries titled &#8220;The \u200bFall of the House of Murdaugh.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In July, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/alex-murdaugh-loses-prison-phone-privileges-after-lawyer-records-phone-call-for-documentary\/\" title=\"Alex Murdaugh loses prison phone privileges after lawyer records call for documentary.\">prison officials discovered<\/a> that Murdaugh \u200bhad used his tablet to take selfies \u200bof himself shirtless and appearing carefree, despite serving two life sentences for the murder of his family.<\/p>\n<p>The prison policy against inmates talking \u2064to the media\u2064 without permission stems from the Department of Corrections&#8217; belief that victims of crime should not have to \u200dsee or hear the person who victimized them or their family member\u2064 on\u200c the \u200bnews, according to the Associated Press.<\/p>\n<p>Murdaugh \u200bwill now have to seek permission to obtain \u200canother tablet and has also reportedly\u2063 lost his ability to buy \u200ditems from the prison canteen for\u2063 a month.<\/p>\n<h3>Murdaugh&#8217;s Guilty Verdict\u200c and Testimony<\/h3>\n<p>A jury found Murdaugh guilty of murder\u2064 on March 2, and he was sentenced to two consecutive\u200b life \u200dsentences. The decision came after just a few hours of deliberation and a six-week trial where more than 70 witnesses testified.<\/p>\n<p>Murdaugh has maintained his innocence, \u200dsuggesting\u2063 that his son Paul \u200bwas the main target for the murders due to his involvement in a 2019 boat crash that killed\u200c 19-year-old\u200c Mallory Beach.<\/p>\n<p>During his trial, Murdaugh spent nearly\u200c two days testifying\u2062 in his\u2062 own defense. He immediately admitted \u2062to lying for years about his whereabouts on the day his wife and son \u200bwere murdered.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecution had already argued \u2063that Murdaugh lied\u200c about not going to the dog \u200dkennels on the day his wife and son \u200cwere murdered. Cell\u2064 phone evidence taken from Paul&#8217;s \u200bphone less than \u200dfive minutes before he was \u200ckilled showed that Paul had filmed one of the dogs to send to a friend. Prosecutors allege\u200c that Murdaugh&#8217;s voice can be heard in the background of the recording. However, Murdaugh has denied \u200dbeing at \u2063the kennels that night.
