I\u2019m supportive of that,\u201d Senate Majority Leader Chuck \u200bSchumer (D-N.Y.) reportedly \u200btold reporters \u200con a call.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A CR until \u200cearly December provides time \u200bfor consideration of these bipartisan bills,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;We urge\u2062 our House colleagues to emulate the \u2062Senate. The only way we\u2019re going to\u200c avoid a government shutdown is by bipartisan support in both \u200dhouses.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You cannot keep the government open if you just want to do it \u200cwith one\u200b party. We \u200dhope \u200dthat \u200dHouse Republicans will\u200d realize that \u200cany funding resolution\u200b has to \u200bbe bipartisan or they will risk \u200bshutting down the government.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>During an appearance on Fox News&#8217; &#8220;Sunday Morning Futures&#8221; on Aug.\u2063 27, Mr. McCarthy expressed interest in\u2062 doing a CR.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would actually like to\u2062 have a short-term CR, only to make our\u2062 arguments stronger, because &#8230; if we shut down, all the government shuts down, investigation and everything else. It hurts the American public,\u201d\u200d he told host Maria Bartiromo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut if we\u2019re able to pass\u2062 our appropriation \u2064bills, we\u2019re in a stronger \u2063position to remove those \u2026 \u2018Pelosi\u200c policies\u2019 that are locked \u2063into law right now\u2014the\u200b wokeism, the overspending, the nonsecurity of this\u200b border,\u201d he continued, \u200dreferring to Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who preceded Mr. McCarthy as Speaker.<\/p>\n<p>A memo\u200b from the Republican \u200cStudy Committee, the largest \u2064House GOP caucus\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/house-gop-memo-mccarthy-congress-spending-fight\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first reported<\/a> \u200d by Fox \u2063News and obtained by The \u200dEpoch Times\u2014calls on Mr. McCarthy to not allow a clean CR, which would continue to fund the government at current\u2064 levels without any changes.<\/p>\n<p>The hardline conservative\u200c House Freedom Caucus has said it will not support a CR if\u200c it does \u200bnot include the Secure the Border \u2064Act of 2023, which the House passed earlier this year; address\u200d &#8220;the unprecedented weaponization of \u200dthe Justice Department \u2062and FBI&#8221; and \u200c&#8221;end the Left\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-republican-eyes-appropriations-process-to-defund-trump-prosecutions\/\" title=\"House Republican seeks to defund Trump prosecutions through appropriations process.\">cancerous woke policies<\/a> in the Pentagon undermining \u200cour military\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-conservatives-arent-afraid-of-sending-government-into-shutdown-over-spending-so-be-it\/\" title=\"House conservatives are unafraid to cause a government shutdown over spending.\">core warfighting mission<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the Freedom\u2063 Caucus \u2064&#8221;will\u200c oppose any attempt by Washington to revert to its old playbook of using a series of short-term funding extensions designed to push Congress up against a December deadline to force the passage of yet another monstrous,\u2064 budget-busting, pork-filled, lobbyist handout\u2064 omnibus \u200dspending bill at year\u2019s end and we will use every procedural tool necessary to prevent that\u200b outcome.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the \u200bcaucus &#8220;will oppose any blank check for Ukraine in any supplemental\u200c appropriations bill.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr. McCarthy\u2064 can only afford to lose four members of his own caucus.<\/p>\n<p>The math got even harder when\u2062 Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), a supporter of Mr. McCarthy, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepMTG\/status\/1697397823875018936?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> on \u2064Aug. 31\u2062 that she would not\u2063 vote for\u200d government\u2064 funding unless there\u200d is a vote to formalize an impeachment inquiry\u2063 of President Joe Biden,\u2064 the defunding the &#8220;weaponization of government,&#8221; the elimination of Covid mandates, and &#8220;no funding for the war in Ukraine.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In accordance with the Constitution, appropriations bills must originate\u2062 in the House.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c White House slammed Ms.\u2064 Greene&#8217;s \u200ccomments.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The last thing the\u2062 American people deserve is for extreme House members to trigger a government shutdown that hurts \u2063our \u200beconomy, undermines\u200d our disaster preparedness, and forces our troops to work without\u200d guaranteed pay,&#8221; said White House deputy spokesperson\u2064 Andrew \u2062Bates in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IanSams46\/status\/1697419743408369720?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The House \u200dRepublicans \u2062responsible for keeping the\u200b government open already made a promise to \u2063the American public about government funding, and it would \u2062be a shame\u200c for them to break their word and\u2064 fail the country because\u200c they caved \u2064to the\u2063 hardcore fringe of their party\u2063 in prioritizing\u200b a\u200b baseless impeachment stunt \u200bover high stakes needs Americans care \u2064about deeply\u2014like fighting fentanyl trafficking, protecting our national security, and funding\u200d FEMA,&#8221; he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Rep.
