The law was set \u2063to go into effect on Friday and \u200cwould\u2064 have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/smugglers-advertising-illegal-entry-services-on-facebook-report\/\" title=\"Smugglers Advertising Illegal Entry Services On Facebook: REPORT\">required users<\/a> under 18 to have parental permission to join any platform. However, \u200cU.S. District \u200bJudge Timothy \u200bL. Brooks, an Obama appointee, granted a preliminary injunction to NetChoice, a trade \u200dgroup representing\u2064 TikTok, Meta, and\u2063 X (formerly known as Twitter), as requested.<\/p>\n<h3>Judge Brooks&#8217; Ruling<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Age-gating social \u2063media platforms for adults \u200dand \u2063minors does not appear to be an effective \u2062approach when, in \u2063reality, it is the content on particular\u200d platforms that is driving\u2063 the\u2064 state\u2019s\u200d true concerns,&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The law would have applied\u200b to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/does-the-u-s-need-a-new-strategic-paradigm\/\" title=\"Does the U.S. Need a New Strategic Paradigm?\">platforms generating<\/a> over $100 million in revenue annually, but it would not \u200dhave affected \u2063LinkedIn, Google,\u2063 or YouTube.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019re\u200b pleased the court sided with the First Amendment and stopped Arkansas\u2019 unconstitutional law from censoring free speech online and undermining the privacy of Arkansans, their families,\u200c and their businesses as our case proceeds,&#8221; said Chris Marchese, \u2064Director of the NetChoice Litigation Center.<\/p>\n<p>NetChoice has also filed a lawsuit against \u200cCalifornia for a similar age verification law.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the ruling, \u200bAttorney General Tim Griffin\u2062 has promised to &#8220;continue to vigorously\u2064 defend\u200c the law and protect\u2063 our\u2063 children.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Click here to read more from The Washington Examiner.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>age of 13 would have been prohibited from using social media platforms.
