Ron DeSantis trails at 14.8 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200b former president considered his interview with\u200b Tucker \u200bCarlson on X (formerly known as\u200b Twitter) a &#8220;tremendous success.&#8221;\u200c He even remarked that it might be preferable\u2064 to a debate.<\/p>\n<p>The first\u200c debate, held in Wisconsin on August 23, attracted \u200bapproximately \u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/first-republican-presidential-debate-draws-13-million-viewers-5480322\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">13 million viewers<\/a>. In contrast, the Trump\u2013Tucker\u200c interview garnered nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/trump-tucker-interview-reaches-nearly-200-million-views-5480019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">200 million views<\/a> as of August 24.\u200b It&#8217;s important to note \u2063that views on X are\u2062 counted when a person views a post, regardless of \u200bwhether they\u2064 watched the entire video.<\/p>\n<p>According to a recent Economist-YouGov <a href=\"https:\/\/today.yougov.com\/topics\/politics\/articles-reports\/2023\/08\/30\/2024-republican-primary-views-first-debate-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">poll<\/a>,\u2064 61 percent of Republicans expressed \u2064strong or \u2062somewhat approval of\u200b President\u2063 Trump&#8217;s decision not to participate in the first debate. Meanwhile, 22 \u200bpercent \u2064disapproved, and 16 percent were\u2063 unsure. The poll was conducted between August \u206426 and August 29.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the \u2064second debate, 57 percent of Republicans believed President Trump should participate, while 17\u200c percent disagreed, and 26 percent were unsure, according to the poll.<\/p>\n<p>During the\u2064 interview with Todd \u2063Starnes, the \u2064former president was asked if he saw any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-state-prosecutor-ayala-seeking-demings-seat\/\" title=\"Former State Prosecutor Ayala Seeking Demings' Seat\">potential running mates<\/a> at the debate.
