She specifically warned of Vibrio vulnificus, a\u200b flesh-eating \u2064bacteria that thrives in salty water and can enter the body through\u2062 open cuts, causing severe\u200c wound infections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyone that\u2019s out\u200d there wading in the water or walking in the water, you know, they\u2019re wearing \u2064sandals or \u2064flip flops and they get a cut. We\u200b need to think seriously about\u200c what does that [wound] look like?\u201d Dr. Nachman said.<\/p>\n<p>Danger signs\u200b of infection include the wound becoming red and \u2063tender, feeling hot to the touch, and appearing to get \u2063progressively worse.
