The law also prohibits using\u200c state dollars\u2062 to fund such procedures for children.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Hexsel <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/lgbtq\/4175268-texas-ban-on-gender-affirming-care-for-minors-to-take-effect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> the law \u201cinfringes upon the Texas Constitution\u2019s guarantees of equality under the law by enacting \u2062a discriminatory and categorical prohibition on evidence-based medical treatments for transgender youth.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But the office of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton immediately\u2064 filed an appeal to the state\u2019s \u200cSupreme Court that placed the judge\u2019s order on hold, \u200carguing that such medical interventions are \u201cunproven\u201d and \u201cemphatically pushed by some activists in the medical and psychiatric professions despite the lack\u200b of evidence demonstrating medical benefit, and \u200deven while growing evidence\u2064 indicates harmful\u2063 effects on\u2062 children\u2019s mental and physical welfare.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paxton\u2019s office said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasattorneygeneral.gov\/news\/releases\/office-attorney-general-files-appeal-texas-supreme-court-blocking-district-judges-ruling-and\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a> that\u200d it will \u201ccontinue to enforce \u200cthe laws duly enacted by the Texas Legislature and uphold the values of the people of Texas by doing everything in its power to protect children from\u200b damaging \u2018gender transition\u2019 interventions.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The state\u2019s Supreme \u2064Court order did not expand further about its decision to \u200dallow the law to take effect or disclose whether it believes the ban is unconstitutional. It\u2019s\u2063 set to go into effect September\u200d 1.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Governor Greg\u2062 Abbot (R-TX) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/texas-becomes-largest-state-to-ban-transgender-procedures-on-kids\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">signed<\/a> the bill into law in June, making\u2062 Texas the largest state to protect children from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-judge-blocks-indiana-law-protecting-children-from-life-altering-transgender-procedures\/\" title=\"Federal judge halts Indiana law safeguarding children from life-altering transgender procedures.\">life-altering transgender procedures<\/a>. With Abbott\u2019s signature, the Lone Star \u200cState joined \u200dmore than 20 other states that have banned transgender surgeries for minors, with many prohibiting both surgical and chemical procedures.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation took a while to get through both chambers of the \u200dTexas legislature as Democrats used parliamentary tactics to stall it. Democrat State Rep. Shawn Thierry voted for the bill, citing scientific evidence showing the long-term impacts of transgender procedures.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1693504018745000&#038;usg=AOvVaw1RMMjCvCBOBYdpkw5O_njE\">CLICK \u200bHERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Thierry said in a\u200b statement\u2062 that she voted to ban minors from receiving \u201cGnRH-analogs, (i.e. \u201cpuberty blockers\u201d), cross-sex hormones, and\u200b to undergo irreversible surgeries when experiencing gender dysphoria\u201d after speaking with constituents and \u201creviewing\u2064 the scientific data in this country and \u2063around the globe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Attorneys from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/here-are-the-left-wing-legal-groups-backing-trans-procedures-on-kids\/\" title=\"Left-wing legal groups support transgender procedures for children.\">left-wing legal groups<\/a>, like Lambda Legal and the ACLU of Texas, filed a lawsuit last month in state court seeking to block the\u2062 law on behalf of five \u2063Texas families, three medical professionals, and two organizations.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclutx.org\/sites\/default\/files\/sb14_factsheet_twopager_1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawsuit<\/a> \u200c argued that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-supreme-court-rules-law-banning-gender-procedures-on-minors-can-take-effect\/\" title=\"Texas Supreme Court allows law banning gender procedures on minors to be enforced.\">state law violates parents\u2019 rights<\/a> to provide such medical treatment for their children, \u2062discriminates\u200d against children based on sex and \u201ctransgender status,\u201d and\u2063 violates healthcare providers\u2019 rights to practice medicine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTransgender people\u2064 have always been here and will always be here,\u201d Ash Hall of the ACLU \u200cof Texas said. \u201cOur trans youth deserve a world where they can shine alongside their peers, and we will keep advocating for that world in and \u2063out of the courts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The law comes after a report alleged that a children\u2019s hospital in Houston performed transgender procedures on children as young as 11.<\/p>\n<p>According to whistleblower documents obtained \u2062by City Journal\u2019s \u2062Christopher Rufo, Texas Children\u2019s Hospital, the largest children\u2019s\u2064 hospital in the U.S., inserted an implantable puberty blocker in multiple children, including at least one 11-year-old.<\/p>\n<p><em>Leif Le Mahieu contributed to this report.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Texas Supreme Court approved a law on Thursday that bans doctors from performing sex-change treatments on minors.
