Dave Cortese (D-San Jose), \u2064was signed by \u2063Gov. Gavin Newsom Aug. 22\u200b and will allow \u200cdevelopers to skip\u2062 repetitive reviews that \u200dare currently required\u2064 under the California\u200b Environmental Quality Act \u2063(CEQA) while keeping California\u2019s main environmental law intact, \u2063according to an \u200bAug. 17 <a href=\"https:\/\/sd15.senate.ca.gov\/news\/legislature-passes-senator-corteses-bill-streamline-ceqa-and-speed-state-housing-production\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a> by Mr. Cortese\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cSB 406 \u200dcuts\u2063 red tape without compromising on environmental protection.
