Its\u200b estimated budget, previously $200 million, now totals nearly $300 million.<\/p>\n<p>Because it was filmed \u2064in the U.K., the superhero sequel was eligible for \u200ba 25 percent reimbursement of \u2062$54.5 million. Before that, the film cost about $349 \u200dmillion to make \u2014 and that\u2019s without marketing.<\/p>\n<p>For context, the movie brought in $955.8 million at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/7-biggest-woke-box-office-busts-of-2021-west-side-story-eternals-and-more\/\" title=\"7 Biggest Woke Box Office Busts of 2021: 'West Side Story,' 'Eternals,' and More\">worldwide box office<\/a> but only made a $183.4 million profit.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, U.K. companies set up by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/lionsgate-studio-releasing-another-faith-based-film-next-jesus-revolution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movie studios<\/a> disclose their financial statements long after films come out. In \u2063this case, the financials\u200d were released \u2063about 14\u200d months after the \u201cDoctor\u2064 Strange\u201d sequel premiered in May 2022.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no telling how many\u2062 other films\u2063 received similar treatment.<\/p>\n<p>This glaring issue with \u2064Disney\u2019s self-reported financials is further \u200cconfirmed by popular YouTuber \u2064Gary Buechler, also known as Nerdrotic. Buechler revealed a recent Marvel Cinematic Universe director privately\u200b told him that Disney\u200d is lying upfront about \u200cits budgets.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The sleight of\u200d hand accounting also pertains to production budgets for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-disney-is-fudging-the-numbers-losing-so-much-more-money-than-anyone-could-have-imagined\/\" title=\"Disney's Financial Losses Exceed Expectations, Raises Concerns\">television shows originally intended<\/a> for Disney\u2019s streaming service.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Some original series such as \u201cThe Mysterious Benedict Society\u201d \u2063were supposed to debut exclusively on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/disney-price-hike-searches-surge-510-cancel-disney-plus-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disney+<\/a>, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/walt-disney-cfo-others-brought-concerns-to-board-over-bob-chapek-11669072222\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The\u2064 Wall Street Journal<\/a>. They instead\u2064 premiered\u2063 on TV networks, including Disney Channel, to sneakily draw away the production and marketing \u200ccosts from\u2064 Disney+.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the streaming \u2062platform\u2019s financials looked better to investors.<\/p>\n<p>This accounting trick \u2062was \u2064reportedly done under the direction of former CEO Bob Chapek before \u2063he stepped down in November.
