Honig argued that\u200d the case was weak because \u2062there were no victims involved, meaning no\u2063 one was actually defrauded.<\/p>\n<p>James&#8217; office alleged that Trump had inflated his net worth by up to $2.2 billion in a single year, making it a\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cnn-legal-analyst-hits-new-york-ag-over-civil-case-against-trump-no-one-really-got-defrauded\/\" title=\"CNN Legal Analyst criticizes New York AG's civil case against Trump: 'No real victims of fraud'.\">significant case involving hundreds<\/a>\u200c of millions of dollars. \u2062However, Honig pointed out that this was only the fifth-most\u200c important case Trump was facing, with four criminal cases taking precedence.<\/p>\n<p>During the deposition, Trump claimed that \u2064he could have even doubled or\u200d tripled the value of his assets due to the Trump name. \u200bHonig acknowledged that Trump had indeed inflated his assets, but the problem with the \u2064case was that the banks involved\u200b in\u200c making the loans had conducted their own due diligence and decided to \u200dproceed. They were ultimately repaid with interest, resulting in profits for the banks.<\/p>\n<p>While \u2062technically constituting fraud, Honig argued that the lack of a clear victim made the \u200ccase less appealing as a criminal matter. He concluded, &#8220;So technically, is it fraud? Yes.
