DEA will now initiate its review,\u201d a DEA spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>During Vice \u200bPresident Kamala Harris\u2019 previous tenure as California\u2019s attorney general, \u2062she \u200cvehemently opposed marijuana legalization \u2062and actively opposed a California reform initiative on the 2010 ballot, co-authoring an official\u200b voter guide argument stating\u2063 that the\u2064 measure \u201cseriously compromises the safety of our communities, roadways, and workplaces.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Yet, \u200bthe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-health-officials-work-to-move-marijuana-to-lower-risk-drug-category\/\" title=\"Federal health officials aim to reclassify marijuana as a less risky drug.\">current vice president flip-flopped<\/a> in 2018\u2063 and changed her position by endorsing descheduling legislation,\u2062 declaring that \u201cwe need \u200cto start\u2064 regulating marijuana.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Controlled Substances Act now lists marijuana among narcotics like heroin and ecstasy as a Schedule \u2063I substance, indicating that it \u2062has a \u201chigh potential for abuse\u201d \u200dand no recognized medicinal \u2062value.<\/p>\n<p>The HHS \u200brecommends reclassifying marijuana as\u2063 having a\u2063 low to moderate risk \u200bof dependence and a low \u200dpotential for abuse, similar \u2063to testosterone and ketamine.<\/p>\n<p>The federal government\u2019s categorization of marijuana could \u2063also \u200cbe \u2064changed to make it easier for\u200d major stock markets to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/eu-to-blacklist-firms-involved-with-transporting-migrants-to-belarus\/\" title=\"EU to \u2018Blacklist\u2019 Firms Involved with Transporting Migrants to Belarus\">list firms involved<\/a> in the cannabis\u2062 industry and perhaps \u2064even open the door for international corporations to start doing business in the U.S.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThe administration\u2019s\u200d process\u2064 is\u2062 an independent\u200d process led \u2062by HHS, led\u200c by\u200d the Department \u200cof Justice, and guided by evidence\u2026 we will let that process move forward,\u201d said\u2062 White \u2063House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On learning of the\u2063 development, shares of many cannabis companies, including Canopy Growth (WEED.TO), Tilray Brands (TLRY.O), and Cronos Group (CRON.TO), increased.
