District Judge Timothy Kelly \u200bemphasized the importance of \u200dthe rights protected by the Constitution and the significance of \u200cthe peaceful transfer of power,\u200b stating that\u200c the\u200c events \u200bon January\u2063 6 broke this tradition.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe nature \u200cof the constitutional \u2063moment we were in that day is something that is so sensitive that it deserves a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/what-is-justice-in-america-today\/\" title=\"What is justice in America today?\">significant\u200d sentence<\/a>,\u201d\u200c Judge Kelly said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Biggs,\u200c a 38-year-old U.S. Army veteran, was found guilty of \u2062multiple charges, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/proud-boys-jan-6-sentencing-hearings-including-for-leader-are-postponed\/\" title=\"Sentencing hearings for Proud Boys, including their leader, delayed.\">including seditious conspiracy<\/a>,\u200b obstruction of an official\u2063 proceeding, and destruction of\u200b government property.<\/p>\n<p>During his sentencing hearing, Biggs <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/capitol-riot-proud-boys-sentencing-seditious-conspiracy-5c8bf8a8e5dc6381e7387e31e554cee6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly<\/a> admitted his mistake on January 6, claiming that he was influenced by \u2063the crowd \u200band \u2064his curiosity got the better of him.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI know that I messed up that day, but I am not a terrorist,\u201d\u200d Biggs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/former-proud-boys-leaders-could-face-longest-sentences-yet-us-capitol-attack-2023-08-31\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Another former Proud Boys leader, Zachary Rehl, was also sentenced to 15 \u200cyears in prison. \u2063Rehl was\u2062 found guilty of\u200c obstructing an official proceeding, conspiring \u200dto obstruct an official proceeding, and other charges.
