However, he emphasized that it was the court&#8217;s responsibility\u2063 to ensure that the laws passed align with established First Amendment doctrine.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ezra also agreed with the Free\u2064 Speech \u2062Coalition&#8217;s suggestion that \u200dTexas could achieve its goal of limiting child access to pornography through alternative means, such as implementing &#8220;parental filters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For now, the\u200b state will have to wait until the lawsuit is properly litigated before it can \u200dbegin enforcing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trifecta-status-on-the-2023-ballot-for-these-five-states\/\" title=\"Trifecta status on 2023 ballot in 5 states.\">age\u2064 verification law<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>H.B. 1181 would have empowered the Texas\u2063 attorney general to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-blocks-texas-pornography-age-verification-law-on-constitutional-grounds\/\" title=\"Texas pornography age verification law blocked by judge for being unconstitutional.\">sue adult content-hosting websites<\/a> for over $3 million annually if they failed to verify user\u2064 ages\u200c using a government-issued ID. The law also mandated that adult websites prominently display a &#8220;Texas Health and Human Services Warning&#8221; in 14-point font, while\u2062 requiring \u200busers to verify \u200ctheir age. This warning highlights the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pornhub-sues-texas-over-age-verification-law\/\" title=\"Pornhub files lawsuit against Texas over age verification legislation.\">potential biological addiction<\/a> of pornography, its detrimental effects on brain development,\u2063 and its impact on brain function.<\/p>\n<p>It is worth noting that\u2062 Texas is not the first state to adopt age verification requirements. Louisiana\u200c implemented similar restrictions earlier this year, demanding users to provide a \u2063copy of a \u200dgovernment-issued ID before gaining access to pornographic websites. Several other states, including Virginia, Mississippi, Utah, Arkansas, and \u2062Montana, have also\u200d passed similar \u200dbills.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas attorney general&#8217;s office declined to comment when approached by \u2064the Washington Examiner.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A US judge halted enforcement of Texas&#8217; age verification law for porn sites, posing a challenge to similar state laws curbing access to adult content.
