Version: 4.0.47--><h2>Alex Murdaugh \u200dConvicted on 2 Charges After Prison Catches Killer&#8217;s Call for Fox News<\/h2>\n<p>Convicted murderer and former South Carolina \u200dlegal scion Alex Murdaugh has been convicted by the state\u2019s corrections department on two \u201cinternal disciplinary\u201d charges of misusing his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-an-inside-look-at-cnn-the-cable-networks-premium-streaming-service-launching-in-2022\/\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE: An Inside Look at CNN+, the Cable Network\u2019s Premium Streaming Service Launching in 2022\">phone privileges<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Murdaugh was sentenced to \u200blife in prison without the possibility of parole earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Jurors found the former attorney murdered both his\u2062 wife and adult son in 2021 during an attempt to hide his\u2062 theft of millions of dollars from coming to light.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s been confined to a prison in the state\u200c since, \u2062but he found his way into even more trouble recently for misusing his phone privileges.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200dSouth\u2064 Carolina Department of Corrections said in a Wednesday statement that the 55-year-old had placed a call to his attorney \u200cJim Griffin that Griffin recorded\u200b for use \u200dby the\u2064 media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInmate Richard Alexander Murdaugh has been convicted of two\u2063 internal disciplinary charges \u2013 Abuse\u2063 of Privileges and Unauthorized Use of an\u200d Inmate\u2019s PIN Number,\u201d the DOC said in the statement.<\/p>\n<p>The statement added, \u201cHe had a \u200c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-mayor-seems-to-suggest-it-was-right-to-violate-officer-rolfes-due-process-to-avoid-more-blm-rioting\/\" title=\"Democrat\u00a0Mayor Seems To Suggest It Was \u2018Right\u2019 To Violate Officer Rolfe\u2019s Due Process To Avoid More BLM Rioting\">disciplinary hearing<\/a> for these charges on Aug. 28, and he lost his telephone and canteen privileges for 30 \u2063days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The state DOC said Murdaugh\u2019s actions were \u201cnot a violation of law\u201d but they did \u2062violate \u200dthe SCDC\u2019s \u201cinmate interview policy \u2064and our \u2062policy against inmates\u200b sharing PIN numbers.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Alex Murdaugh loses prison \u2062phone,\u2063 tablet privileges after lawyer\u2062 records phone call for documentary <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Qu4lUe2c9P\">https:\/\/t.co\/Qu4lUe2c9P<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/IdlDS9VXCS\">pic.twitter.com\/IdlDS9VXCS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 New York Post (@nypost) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nypost\/status\/1697103553444069851?\">August 31, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to a report from\u2062 NBC News, Murdaugh gave a telephone \u2062statement to his attorney for a new documentary that is set to air on \u2062Fox News\u2019 streaming platform Fox Nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Fall of the House of \u200bMurdaugh\u201d is currently\u2064 under\u200c production, but Murdaugh is barred from \u2062using phones to speak \u200cwith the media.<\/p>\n<p>Prison officials said\u200b the \u2064call was placed on a tablet to Griffin\u200d and the recording was later given to Fox News. They became aware of it two weeks ago, on Aug. 15.<\/p>\n<p>They also said Murdaugh \u200bhad taken advantage of a \u200bloophole, since he was speaking with his\u200c attorney.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMurdaugh provided the interview information to his attorney through a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/alabama-passes-bill-baning-child-sex-change-treatments-jailing-doctors-who-transition-kids\/\" title=\"Alabama Passes Bill Baning Child Sex Change Treatments, Jailing Doctors Who Transition Kids\">legal call<\/a>,\u201d the state SCDOC said.<\/p>\n<p>The SCDOC added, \u201cLegal calls are \u2064not recorded or monitored on the inmate phone system per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mcauliffe-linked-law-firm-billed-700-an-hour-fighting-parents-of-special-needs-children\/\" title=\"McAuliffe-Linked Law Firm Billed 0 An Hour Fighting Parents Of Special-Needs Children\">attorney\/client privilege<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neither Fox News nor Griffin have commented on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Griffin was given a letter by the SCDOC warning that his \u200dalleged actions, whether intended to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/alex-murdaugh-convicted-on-2-charges-after-prison-catches-killers-call-for-fox-news\/\" title=\"Alex Murdaugh found guilty on 2 counts after jail intercepts murderer's call to Fox News.\">break state prison phone policy<\/a> or not,\u200c could jeopardize his ability to speak with Murdaugh over the phone \u200cin the future.<\/p>\n<p>Griffin, per \u2062prison \u200cofficials, was put on \u201cnotice\u201d about the policy and no action\u200c will be\u2064 taken against \u2063him.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, prison officials are reviewing Murdaugh\u2019s\u2063 ability to obtain a tablet in the future with which to place phone calls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe department will determine when and\u200c if inmate Murdaugh will earn the opportunity to be issued a tablet again,\u201d the\u2064 SCDOC said.<\/p>\n<p>Prison officials also explained the rationale \u200cbehind its policy barring inmates from providing statements to the \u200cmedia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe department believes that\u2064 victims of crime should not have to see or hear the person who victimized them \u2062or their family member on the news,\u201d the SCDOC said \u2062in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The post <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/alex-murdaugh-convicted-2-charges-prison-catches-killers-call-fox-news\/\">Alex Murdaugh Convicted on\u200c 2 Charges After Prison Catches Killer&#8217;s Call for Fox News<\/a> appeared first on <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\">The Western Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alex Murdaugh, a convicted murderer and ex-South Carolina legal scion, has been found guilty by the state&#8217;s corrections department for misusing his phone privileges.
