The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kids-stand-up-for-their-peer-kicked-out-of-class-for-his-gadsden-patch\/\" title=\"Children support classmate expelled for wearing Gadsden patch.\">school administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fact-check-is-bill-clinton-undergoing-a-military-tribunal-at-guantanamo-bay\/\" title=\"FACT CHECK: Is Bill Clinton Undergoing A Military Tribunal At Guantanamo Bay?\">mistakenly believed<\/a><\/a> that the\u200b flag\u200c was connected to\u2064 American slavery.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to an outpouring of support from conservatives across the country, including Colorado&#8217;s Democratic governor, Rodriguez has been welcomed back to school. Even his classmates have shown their support by displaying &#8220;Don&#8217;t Tread on\u2063 Me&#8221; on their lockers.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Jaiden speaks! And kids are putting &#8216;Don&#8217;t Tread on Me&#8217; on their lockers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, \u200cRodriguez also mentioned that some\u2062 teachers were not happy with him\u200b and gave him dirty looks. It&#8217;s clear that not everyone at the school supports\u200c his stand\u2064 against ignorance.<\/p>\n<p>If I were a professional educator (and I used \u200cto be) \u2064and a 12-year-old made me \u200dlook like a fool in interviews published nationwide by household names like Charlie Kirk and Ben Shapiro, I might be \u200btempted to glace askance at \u200dhim\u200d too. (Luckily, \u2063though I did more than my share of dumb stuff as a teacher and administrator, I got out of education before I could do anything quite <em>this<\/em> dumb.)<\/p>\n<p>The school&#8217;s administration saw the &#8220;Don&#8217;t \u200bTread on Me&#8221; image and mistakenly believed it was\u200d racist. They did\u2062 minimal research to support their misguided assumption.<\/p>\n<p>Despite\u2063 the historical facts, \u2063school administrator Jeff Yocum cited a 2014 decision by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity \u2063Commission (EEOC) in\u200b an email to Rodriguez&#8217;s mother.\u200c The EEOC ruled that the Gadsden flag could be viewed as racist if someone feels it is racist, regardless of its actual meaning.<\/p>\n<p>However, the EEOC also acknowledged that the flag originated in \u2064the Revolutionary War and has no connection to racism or slavery. It is often used to express non-racial \u2062sentiments in\u200c political contexts.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, Yocum \u2064argued that the flag is racist \u2062because \u200bsome hate groups\u200c have used it.\u2064 This argument is flawed, as the Gadsden\u2064 flag has nothing to do with the shameful history of \u200bslavery in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, \u2063the flag symbolizes one of the \u200cproudest \u2063moments\u200b in American history\u2014the fight for independence from\u2064 the British empire. It has also become a symbol of constitutional conservatives who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/missouri-blocks-enforcement-of-federal-gun-control-laws-that-violate-second-amendment-rights-as-biden-pursues-gun-agenda\/\" title=\"Missouri Blocks Enforcement Of Federal Gun Control Laws That Violate Second Amendment Rights As Biden Pursues Gun Agenda\">oppose government overreach<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Conservatives from across\u2064 the country, as well as Democratic Gov. Jared Polis \u2062and Rep. Ted Lieu, spoke up in support of Rodriguez. Great mom. Justice won.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s\u200c heartening to see young individuals like Jaiden Rodriguez standing up for their rights and receiving support from people across the political spectrum.
