in place of\u200d Xi.<\/p>\n<p>In \u2063China, two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/saudi-court-jails-womens-rights-activist-posing-challenge-for-biden\/\" title=\"Saudi court jails women\u2019s rights activist, posing challenge for Biden\">foreign diplomats<\/a> and\u2064 a government official from another G20 country said\u2063 that Xi will \u200blikely not be traveling for \u200cthe summit.<\/p>\n<p>Two \u2064of these three sources in China said they were informed by Chinese officials, but they were not aware\u2064 of the reason for \u2063Xi&#8217;s expected absence.<\/p>\n<p>All officials spoke on condition of\u200c anonymity as they were not authorized to speak to the media.<\/p>\n<p>Anticipation of a meeting between Xi and Biden has been fueled by a stream of \u2064top U.S. officials visiting Beijing in recent months, including a trip by Commerce Secretary Gina\u200d Raimondo earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>Another upcoming summit mooted\u2063 for face-to-face talks between the\u200b two leaders is an Asia-Pacific\u200c Economic Cooperation Leaders Meeting in San Francisco on Nov. 12-18.<\/p>\n<p>Xi, who secured a precedent-breaking third term as\u2063 leader last October, has made few overseas trips since China abruptly dropped strict pandemic-induced border controls this year.<\/p>\n<p>He did, however, attend a meeting from leaders of\u2064 the BRICS group of major emerging economies\u2014Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa\u2014in South Africa last week.<\/p>\n<p>Several G20 ministerial meetings \u200cin \u200cIndia ahead of the summit have been contentious as Russia and China\u2064 together <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/xi-jinping-likely-to-skip-g20-summit\/\" title=\"Xi Jinping may not attend G20 Summit.\">opposed joint statements<\/a> which included paragraphs condemning Moscow\u200d for\u2062 its invasion of Ukraine last year.<\/p>\n<p>Xi \u2063and Indian prime minister Narendra Modi held a rare conversation on the sidelines of the BRICS meeting in Johannesburg and discussed reducing tensions in the bilateral relationship that soured after clashes \u200calong their\u200b Himalayan \u2062frontier in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chinas-xi-jinping-likely-to-skip-g20-summit\/\" title=\"Xi Jinping, China's leader, expected to miss G20 Summit.\">2020 left 24 soldiers dead<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>(Reporting by Krishn\u2063 Kaushik in\u2064 New \u200dDelhi and Laurie Chen and Martin Quin Pollard in Beijing;
