Emilia Sykes\u2062 (D-OH) as they strive to \u200bretain their House seats and regain\u2063 a\u2062 majority in the lower chamber.<\/p>\n<p>Among undecided voters in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nolte-republicans-top-democrats-by-7-points-on-handling-education\/\" title=\"Nolte: Republicans Top Democrats by 7 Points on Handling Education\">upcoming congressional election<\/a>, a staggering 68% express disapproval of Biden&#8217;s \u2064job performance, while only 21% approve. \u200dThese numbers present a challenging \u2062situation \u2063for \u200dSykes, \u200cparticularly as she seeks a second term in what is considered \u200done of the \u200cmore competitive\u200c races of the 2024 cycle.<\/p>\n<h3>Tight Race in Ohio<\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/psaki-blasted-for-deflecting-blame-for-crime-wave-by-claiming-gop-defunded-the-police\/\" title=\"Psaki Blasted For Deflecting Blame For Crime Wave By Claiming GOP Defunded The Police\">internal polling<\/a>, obtained\u200b exclusively by \u2063the Washington Examiner, reveals a close\u2063 contest on the \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-approval-down-in-multiple-swing-districts-according-to-gop-aligned-poll\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s Approval Down In Multiple Swing Districts, According To GOP-Aligned Poll\">generic congressional ballot<\/a> in \u2063Ohio. Currently, 46.1% of voters prefer a \u200cRepublican candidate, \u2062while\u2063 45.1% would back a Democrat.\u200d However, when it comes to Sykes&#8217;s reelection, only 38.7% of voters believe she should\u200d retain \u200cher seat, compared to 43.3% \u200cwho think she should be replaced. An additional 18% \u2063remain undecided.<\/p>\n<p>The poll highlights specific issues that \u200dGOP\u2062 leaders argue put Sykes at odds with Ohio \u2063voters, including her stance \u2063on military pay and immigration. Notably, Sykes voted against the \u2063National Defense Authorization Act, which House Republicans claim was a vote against\u200c a pay raise for military members. Additionally, she\u200c opposed the POLICE Act, which aimed to make assaulting a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-secretary-of-state-investigating-voter-registration-group-run-by-democrat-raphael-warnock\/\" title=\"Georgia Secretary Of State Investigating Voter Registration Group Run By Democrat Raphael Warnock\">law enforcement officer<\/a> or firefighter a deportable offense. Sykes was one of 175 Democrats who voted against the measure.<\/p>\n<p>After respondents were\u200b informed of these two votes, Sykes&#8217;s electoral \u200bprospects among Ohio voters \u200bslightly declined. With these issues in mind, 47% \u200cof voters say they would support a\u2064 GOP candidate, while 39.7% would vote for Sykes. Approximately 13.3% remain undecided.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She&#8217;s less than \u200ba year into serving in Congress, yet \u200cOhio voters are already looking\u200b for anyone other than Emilia Sykes to represent them. Sykes \u2064is in big trouble come November 2024,&#8221; said \u200dCLF Communications Director Courtney Parella.<\/p>\n<h3>A Top Target for House Republicans<\/h3>\n<p>Sykes&#8217;s seat in Ohio&#8217;s 13th Congressional District has become a prime target\u200b for\u2064 House Republicans in the 2024 cycle, especially after the nonpartisan Cook Political Report classified it as a tossup. Running for reelection in an R+1 district, Sykes faces a slight disadvantage as Republicans aim to secure \u2062victory in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The Cygnal poll surveyed 400 likely voters in Ohio&#8217;s 13th District\u2062 between August 23\u2062 and 24. The margin of error for the poll is plus or minus 4.89 percentage\u2064 points.<\/p>\n<p>All 435 seats \u200bare up for grabs \u2064in \u200dthe 2024\u200d election as Republicans strive to maintain their slim majority in the\u2063 lower \u2062chamber. Out of the 42 competitive seats, most \u200bare held by Democrats, giving \u200bthe GOP\u200c a slight advantage\u2064 heading into the next \u2064election cycle. However, it is worth noting that 18 of these competitive seats \u200bare held by Republicans in districts that \u2062voted for President Biden in\u200b 2020, compared to\u200d only five Democrats defending seats in districts carried by former President Trump.
