YouTube shows like \u201cThe\u200b Why Files\u201d and paranormal network shows that expose esoterica\u200b to a wider audience in compelling ways are booming. It\u2019s no wonder occult practice and doctrines have \u200bseeped through the culture \u2014 cravings for supernatural <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/walsh-in-secretly-recorded-footage-pro-trans-doctor-makes-truly-insane-argument-for-amputating-teen-girls-breasts\/\" title=\"WALSH: In Secretly Recorded Footage, Pro-Trans Doctor Makes Truly Insane Argument For Amputating Teen Girls\u2019 Breasts\">horror stories<\/a> are as\u2062 strong as ever, UFO sightings are increasingly common, and government employees are hinting to Congress\u2063 that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/congress-to-hold-open-hearing-on-ufos-will-public-hearings-make-a-difference\/\" title=\"Congress to Hold Open Hearing on UFOs \u2013 Will Public Hearings Make a Difference?\">aliens exist<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>If there was ever a\u200d time to sweep the grotesque and the unexplained under the \u200brug \u2014 as has been\u2063 the habit of many who profess the name of Christ \u2014 \u2063it is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-gun-policies-concern-second-amendment-advocates\/\" title=\"Biden gun policies concern Second Amendment advocates\">long past<\/a>. Christians\u200c must deal honestly with bizarre phenomena that seem to lack earthly, material explanations. And the hosts of \u201cHaunted Cosmos\u201d say they\u2019re here to help us do just that.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Portions of this podcast were so captivating I\u200b could only stand motionless and slack-jawed until the \u2063stories concluded. Of course, Christians \u200bshould always evaluate the motives of content creators and their own motives for consuming \u200cthat\u2062 content. Is \u201cHaunted Cosmos\u201d just churning out \u200dmore horror stories for the revenue, like Hollywood producers? Are they here for the titillation, thrilling in the\u200b gruesome details of \u2062the suffering among members of God\u2019s creation, beckoning us to join in?<\/p>\n<p>At times, it seems the\u2063 hosts are a little too excited to present their stories of \u2062supernatural \u200bwoe, but it\u2019s \u2064hard to say this eagerness isn\u2019t because their stories give insight into the\u2062 supernatural world (a noble\u200b goal), or because they love stories the way Tolkien and C.S. Lewis \u2063\u2014 both mentioned several times throughout season one of the show \u2014 loved stories.<\/p>\n<p>Some Christians may find\u200c presentations of \u201cghost stories\u201d as entertainment controversial, even taboo. But for its entertainment value, \u201cHaunted Cosmos\u201d carries an equal weight of Christian witness.\u2062 Suav\u00e9 and Garrett\u2062 combine theological \u200bdiscussion and scripted narration\u2062 to frame significant paranormal events and patterns of phenomena as part of the unfolding story of reality told by our Creator.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>From vintage reports of sea serpents, to the \u201cMothman\u201d cryptid\u2064 as harbinger of\u200c tragedy, to the glowing, dog-melting orb and giant zombie wolves\u200d of Skinwalker Ranch, each\u200b topic is meticulously researched. The narration is well-written and delivered, and all \u200dnine roughly hour-long episodes are dramatized with music and sound effects.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Dialogue between \u2062narrations often \u2063veers into what the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/paranormal-podcast-tackles-the-haunted-cosmos-with-biblical-literacy\/\" title=\"Paranormal Podcast Explores 'Haunted Cosmos' Through Bible Knowledge\">hosts readily call \u201cunhinged\u201d\u2062 speculation<\/a>. This isn\u2019t a drawback if the listener continues to think critically \u200band measure everything against the Scriptures. Suav\u00e9 and\u200d Garrett are quick to admit what is still\u2063 a mystery, but the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/man-on-fbis-10-most-wanted-list-arrested-after-16-years\/\" title=\"Man On FBI\u2019s 10 Most Wanted List Arrested After 16 Years\">long reach<\/a> for explanation is part of the show\u2019s entertainment value and encourages listeners not to simply shrug off paranormal terrors with, \u201cWell, that\u2019s\u200c just demons being demons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The podcast also contains substantive\u2064 and well-read discussions of the occult\u200d and how it relates to\u2062 so-called close\u200d encounters, mostly found in the episode titled \u2062\u201cEvangelistic Aliens.\u201d This area has already been well-tread by heavyweight Christian scholars like Hugh Ross and the recently \u2062passed Michael Heiser, whom Suav\u00e9 and Garrett credit with providing the basis for some of their convictions about who \u2014 or \u2064what \u2014 is behind \u2063much of the paranormal phenomena they discuss. Heiser argued some controversial theses, but as Garrett and Suav\u00e9 say in the \u200cpodcast, they are ideas that \u201cneed to be reckoned\u2064 with.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It is this quest for reckoning\u2062 that makes \u201cHaunted Cosmos\u201d a gloriously overambitious project. Few popular Christian thought leaders and far fewer pastors are earnestly seeking to find and \u200bpropagate <strong>truth<\/strong> in these matters. Not \u2064 <strong>truth<\/strong> in the way Mulder \u2064defined it in\u2063 \u201cThe X Files,\u201d but in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+119%3A160&#038;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">way<\/a> it\u2019s defined in God\u2019s Word.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The ultimate goal of evil spirits, the Bible teaches, is to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+Timothy+4%3A1&#038;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deceive<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Deuteronomy+11%3A16&#038;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lead<\/a> away from the true God. Yet particular strategies they employ are\u2063 often more difficult to discern. The events narrated in \u201cHaunted Cosmos\u201d are so diverse and resistant to simple unifying theories that discerning \u201cthe game plan\u201d of the forces of darkness within specific stories is utterly in vain. The attempt to reduce this complexity is delusional, perhaps even conceited. Yet it is deeply human to grasp at understanding, even if just to gain the smallest grain of wisdom, to make just a little more sense of both the seen and unseen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaunted Cosmos\u201d is just two Christians exploring \u200da vast world of \u201chigh strangeness,\u201d exhorting their audience to build resistance to materialist worldviews and to put on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=ephesians%206:10-18&#038;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the full armor of God<\/a> so that\u200d they may \u201ctake [their] stand against the\u200b devil\u2019s schemes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Suav\u00e9 and Garrett\u2019s conclusions may be up for debate, but the task of reckoning with the paranormal\u200c and experiences with supposed extraterrestrial\u200d intelligence has been undermanned by Christians for some time. If season two is as\u200d \u201cunhinged\u201d and ambitious as season one, the \u201chaunted cosmonaut\u201d\u200d listener base will only grow \u2014 even if it means they shuffle a little faster from\u2064 their bathrooms to their \u200dbeds at night.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As autumn begins, prepare for the chills with a cozy sweater while tuning in to &#8220;Haunted Cosmos,&#8221; a podcast by Pastor Brian Suav\u00e9 and narrator Ben Garrett.
