Dustin Burrows, both\u2062 Republicans. It\u200b had received support from Gov. (Courtesy of \u200dthe Texas Senate)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>&#8216;Overreaching Regulations \u200cConflict With State Law&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>The\u200d legislation also allowed Texans to \u200dfile lawsuits against municipalities or counties\u200b that violated the legislation, giving them three\u200d months&#8217; notice to correct the issue before legal action \u2064could be taken.<\/p>\n<p>Supporters argued that the legislation would help <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/feds-give-planned-parenthood-millions-in-pandemic-relief-after-ruling-it-ineligible-for-govt-aid\/\" title=\"Feds Give Planned Parenthood Millions in Pandemic Relief After Ruling it Ineligible for Gov\u2019t Aid\">small businesses deal<\/a> with inconsistent and overreaching \u200cregulations, \u200dwhile opponents feared it would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-judge-declares-bill-limiting-authority-of-cities-counties-unconstitutional\/\" title=\"Texas judge rules bill limiting cities, counties' authority unconstitutional.\">undermine local worker protections<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the \u200cruling, state\u200b Rep. Dustin\u2063 Burrows expressed \u2064confidence that the Texas Supreme \u2064Court would uphold the \u200dlaw,\u2064 stating that\u200c the\u2062 judgment had no legal effect or precedent.<\/p>\n<p>Annie Spilman, the Texas director at the National \u2063Federation \u2063of Independent Business, condemned the \u2062judge&#8217;s \u2062ruling and encouraged Texans\u200b to avail\u200c themselves of\u2062 their rights\u200b under the new law.<\/p>\n<h2>&#8216;Power Grab\u2063 by the Legislature&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>Spilman argued that the Texas Constitution allows the legislature to preempt local ordinances and that opposition to the law&#8217;s scope does not make it unconstitutional.
