This\u2063 move\u2062 comes as China ramps \u2064up its efforts to\u2062 accelerate \u200cAI deployment.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>Baidu, China\u2019s \u200cleading online search provider,\u2063 announced that its AI\u200c chatbot Ernie\u2063 Bot, similar to ChatGPT, will be fully accessible to the general public. Additionally, \u200ctwo \u200cAI startups, Baichuan Intelligent Technology and Zhipu AI,\u200c will officially \u2064launch their chatbots \u2063on Thursday. All three companies have\u200c obtained government approval for their products.<\/p>\n<p>Baidu&#8217;s shares saw a \u200c4.5% increase in early trading in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike in Western countries where AI \u200dproducts can be\u200b launched without regulatory approval, China requires companies to undergo \u2063security assessments and obtain clearance before \u2064releasing mass-market AI products.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese authorities\u200c have recently intensified efforts to support AI \u200ddevelopment as it becomes a key focus\u200c of competition with the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>According to Chinese media \u2062reports, a\u200c total of 11 firms, including ByteDance (the\u2063 maker of\u200b TikTok) and\u2062 SenseTime \u2062Group, have\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/red-handed-how-the-bush-family-cashed-in-on-friendship-with-chinese-official-involved-in-the-tiananmen-square-massacre\/\" title=\"\u2018Red-Handed\u2019: How the Bush Family Cashed In on Friendship with Chinese Official Involved in the Tiananmen Square Massacre\">received government approvals<\/a>.\u200d However, neither company has responded to requests\u200c for comment. SenseTime&#8217;s shares rose by about 4% in Hong Kong after the market opened.<\/p>\n<p>The regulatory \u200bapprovals were widely anticipated following the implementation of interim rules by China\u2062 on \u200cAugust 5th, aimed at regulating generative AI products\u2062 for the public.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to these rules, companies were only allowed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/china-approves-domestic-chatgpt-like-products-from-baidu-others\/\" title=\"China greenlights domestic ChatGPT-style products by Baidu and other companies.\">conduct small-scale public tests<\/a> of AI products.
