Gretchen Whitmer Unveils Plans To Shut Down A 65-Year-Old Pipeline\">caused significant damage<\/a> like we have never \u2063seen before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Idalia is the \u200dfirst major\u200c hurricane of\u2064 the 2023 Atlantic season, overlapping with ongoing efforts to address the Maui wildfire\u200b and\u2064 West Coast flooding.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Emergency\u200c Management Agency\u2062 (FEMA) has said that \u200dits financial resources are adequate\u2063 to \u2062address the repercussions of Hurricane Idalia,\u2063 but these\u200c funds will run out. FEMA Director Deanne Criswell reported that $3.4 billion remains for the ongoing crises in Hawaii and Florida. However, both Ms. Criswell and\u2063 Sen. \u200bRick \u200bScott (R-Fla.) are urging\u200b Congress for additional support.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200bpresident warned Republicans on Wednesday against holding up disaster assistance funding, saying he\u200c would publicly &#8220;point\u200b out why&#8221; if \u2063they did.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow can we not respond? My\u200b God. Earlier this month, President Biden raised eyebrows when he responded &#8220;no comment&#8221; \u2062when asked by a reporter about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-to-show-lockdowns-are-killing-more-people-than-the-virus\/\" title=\"How To Show Lockdowns Are Killing More People Than The Virus\">rising death toll<\/a> in Maui. The \u200bWhite House later said the president didn&#8217;t hear \u200bthe question when \u2063he gave that response.<\/p>\n<p>On another occasion, \u2064during a bike \u2063ride, President\u200b Biden answered a\u2062 similar question\u200b with, &#8220;We\u2019re looking at it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration was also \u200ccriticized for its\u2064 decision to provide the survivors of the Hawaii wildfires with $700 in payments,\u2063 with critics pointing to the billions spent \u200bin monetary assistance on supporting Ukrainian war efforts.<\/p>\n<p>The $700 aid came as the United States announced \u2063a $200 million assistance package for Ukraine, which has already been authorized by Congress to receive $113.1 \u2063billion in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing Idalia on \u2063Wednesday,\u2063 President Biden laid out the steps he\u2019d taken ahead of the hurricane&#8217;s landfall to\u200d ensure Florida and other states \u200chad the resources\u200c they needed.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier \u200bon \u200dWednesday, the president received updates from federal emergency officials and\u2063 spoke\u200d with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, and South Carolina \u2062Gov.\u200c Henry McMaster \u200cas Idalia \u200btraveled \u2062up \u200bthe East\u2062 Coast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI let each governor\u200d I\u200b spoke with know if there\u2019s anything the states\u200c need \u2063right now, \u200dI\u2019m ready to mobilize that support,\u201d President Biden said.<\/p>\n<p>Despite their political rivalry, President Biden said\u200b he and Gov.
