These initiatives \u2062aim to address \u2064concerns regarding \u2063the lack\u200c of parental notification about gender transitions, biological boys competing\u200b in girls&#8217; sports, and\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/tag\/transgender\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">transgender<\/a> medical interventions on minors.<\/p>\n<p>The main organization behind this\u2062 effort is\u2062 Students First California, \u200ba\u2062 non-profit parent and\u200b family advocacy group. They have formed a subgroup called Protect\u2064 Kids California,\u200c which is working with \u200bother <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/americas-largest-teachers-union-has-donated-1-million-to-reelect-michigan-gov-whitmer\/\" title=\"America's Largest Teachers Union Has Donated  Million to Reelect Michigan Gov. Whitmer\">parental rights groups<\/a> to organize the ballot \u200cinitiatives.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200ccoalition plans\u200b to start collecting signatures in November, once California Attorney\u2062 General Rob Bonta provides ballot titles \u200dand\u200c summaries for each initiative. It \u200cseeks to prohibit the use\u2062 of \u200dpuberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and gender transition \u2064surgeries for minors.<\/p>\n<p>The second initiative, called the Protect <a href=\"https:\/\/protectkidsca.com\/protect-girls-sports-and-spaces-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Girls Sports \u200band Spaces Act<\/a>,\u2062 aims to ensure fair \u200dand safe opportunities for \u200bgirls to participate in athletic programs. \u200dIt recognizes the physical \u200bdifferences between males and females that can give males a competitive advantage and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-parents-launch-ballot-initiatives-opposing-gender-ideology\/\" title=\"California parents launch ballot initiatives against gender ideology.\">requires sex-segregated\u2062 locker rooms<\/a> and bathrooms.<\/p>\n<p>The third initiative, known\u2064 as the \u2064School <a href=\"https:\/\/protectkidsca.com\/school-transparency-and-partnership-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Transparency \u200cand Partnership Act<\/a>, aims to require parental consent for social gender \u2062transitions at school and ensure that \u2063parents are fully informed about their child&#8217;s well-being, including mental health and social\u2062 development.<\/p>\n<p>According to Jay Reed, a board member of Students\u200c First\u2062 California, the coalition wants \u200dto take these issues \u200ddirectly \u200cto California voters because they feel that the Democratic Party,\u200b which currently governs the state, is not listening to\u200b parents. (John Fredricks\/The Epoch Times)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The\u2062 parental \u2063rights \u200bcoalition is primarily\u200b composed of parents and young adults who are passionate about protecting children from what they perceive as dangerous and unproven policies and ideologies. They believe that reasonable conversations and engagement have been replaced with labels such as &#8220;right-wing \u200dMAGA&#8221;\u200d and &#8220;bigots.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan Zachreson, president of Students First California, emphasized the need to bring these issues\u2063 directly to the voters \u200dsince polling data shows that a\u2064 majority of Californians, including \u200dmany Democrats, support\u2063 these initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Newsom administration has \u200cresponded to these parental rights groups by filing a lawsuit against the\u2062 Chino Valley Unified School District, which recently adopted a \u2064policy\u2063 requiring parental notification if a child requests to be known as\u200c a gender other than their sex on their birth certificate.<\/p>\n<p>Equality \u200dCalifornia, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/tag\/lgbt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LGBT<\/a> activist group, \u200dstaged a protest on the Capitol grounds, \u200bapplauding the lawsuit and denouncing\u200c the school district&#8217;s parental\u200b notification policy as the &#8220;forced outing&#8221; of transgender\u2064 students.<\/p>\n<p>State Sen. Scott Wiener\u2063 (D-San Francisco) also spoke at the protest,\u200b expressing his opposition \u2063to the ballot \u200dmeasures and \u200cstating that they will be rejected.
