min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>P\u00e4ivi R\u00e4s\u00e4nen, a \u206462-year-old medical doctor and grandmother of seven, stated in a press release that she is \u201cready to defend her freedom\u200c of expression \u200bin all necessary courts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her second court appearance is scheduled for August \u200c31<sup>st<\/sup> at 9 a.m. \u200dand September 1<sup>st<\/sup> at the Helsinki Court of Appeals.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the Helsinki District Court unanimously rejected the \u2063hate\u2064 speech\u200d accusations against R\u00e4s\u00e4nen and Bishop Juhana Pohjola \u2063in February 2022 due to their Christian ideological views on marriage.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the unanimous acquittal, R\u00e4s\u00e4nen said in\u200d a news statement\u2064 that the \u200dprotracted four-year inquiry had\u2064 entailed false claims, \u200dcontinuous police\u2062 questioning, district court hearings, and an imminent appeal hearing.<\/p>\n<p>After R\u00e4s\u00e4nen questioned her church\u2019s sponsorship of an LGBTQ+ Pride \u2063event in a \u200b2019 \u200btweet, which included a link to an \u200dInstagram post that attached an image of Bible text\u2064 from\u200b verses Romans\u2063 1:24\u201327, the\u200c ongoing issues and legal disputes arose.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThe content of my writings and \u2064my speeches represents the classical Christian view of marriage and sexuality, the\u2064 same as\u2062 the Churches have generally \u200btaught\u200d for two millennia,\u201d \u200dR\u00e4s\u00e4nen wrote in a press release. \u201cI do\u200c not condone insulting, threatening or slandering anyone, and my statements have \u2064not included content of such a\u2062 nature.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/finnish-parliament-member-faces-2nd-hate-speech-trial-for-quoting-bible-verses\/\" title=\"Finnish MP faces second 'hate speech' trial over Bible quotes.\">34-page\u2062 complaint \u201copenly\u200b attacks<\/a> the\u2062 core teachings of the Christian faith,\u201d the Finnish politician maintained. The \u200cprosecutors had also previously equated the Bible to Hitler\u2019s <em>Mein\u2062 Kampf<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>According to Finland\u2019s state\u200c prosecutor at the time of the initial allegations, \u200bthey claimed\u2062 that R\u00e4s\u00e4nen\u2019s remarks were made with the intention of \u201cinciting \u2064intolerance, contempt,\u200d and hatred toward homosexuals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors then recited \u200dseparate Bible verses that were \u200bunrelated to R\u00e4s\u00e4nen\u2019s social media post at the\u200c first trial as \u201cbad\u201d speech, claiming that\u200d the word \u201csin\u201d \u2064could be \u200binterpreted as \u200ddetrimental and offensive.<\/p>\n<p>The trial, according to R\u00e4s\u00e4nen, \u201cdeters people from exercising their right to free speech and religion.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cIf writings based on biblical teachings were to be condemned, that would mean a serious restriction\u200c of freedom of religion. It is natural \u200bthat this would raise concerns\u2064 among Christians both in Finland and internationally,\u201d she \u2063said. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According \u2062to R\u00e4s\u00e4nen,\u2064 she is prepared to defend the right to free speech and \u200dreligion in \u201call necessary courts, even the European Court\u2063 of Human Rights \u2063if necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stay informed!
