He Lobbies for a Country Where It\u2019s Illegal To Be Gay.\">anti-gay laws<\/a>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The actual headline on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/08\/29\/africa\/ugandans-charged-aggravated-homosexuality-intl\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN.com<\/a> provided even less information: <strong>\u201cTwo Ugandan men \u200dmay face death penalty after \u2018aggravated homosexuality\u2019 charge.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The community note function on X is \u2063an open-source solution to provide context or fact-checking to posts on the platform. The moderators \u200dof X\u2019s community notes agreed with X users that the post left out some key information.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne man is \u2064accused of having a\u2064 sexual relation with \u200ba disabled man, the other of a sexual \u2064act with 12 year-old child,\u201d the added community note explained. \u201cBoth are charged with\u200d \u2018aggravated homosexuality,\u2019 defined \u2064as same-sex relations with someone who is HIV-positive, a child, an elderly person or disabled.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Two \u2063men in Uganda are facing separate charges of \u201caggravated homosexuality,\u201d an offense punishable by death under the country\u2019s controversial new anti-gay \u200blaws <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vwNet7XDuJ\">https:\/\/t.co\/vwNet7XDuJ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CNN (@CNN) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CNN\/status\/1696591085689069969?\">August 29,\u2062 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Whereas CNN apparently believed that the \u201cdeath penalty\u201d aspect of the \u201ccontroversial\u201d new law was the key point in the story, readers felt that the actual crimes committed were vital to understand the story \u200bcorrectly.<\/p>\n<p>One \u200bof\u2064 the men, 20, is accused of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cnn-slapped-with-community-note-on-x-after-defending-alleged-rapist-of-a-child\/\" title=\"CNN receives community backlash for defending accused child rapist.\">performing \u201cunlawful sexual intercourse<\/a> with one [man] aged 41 with \u2062a disability,\u201d according to a spokeswoman for the office of the Director of Prosecutions cited by CNN.<\/p>\n<p>The other \u2064suspect is accused of\u2063 \u201ca sexual act with a child aged 12 of the same sex,\u201d the same spokeswoman told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnn-host-admits-air-biden-news-breaks-trump-right\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>.
