Judge Parker deemed the law unconstitutional, citing its infringement \u200don freedom of \u200cspeech and\u200c its vagueness.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Protecting children from obscene and lewd behavior is not a new idea. We need to let kids be kids, and the state has legal authority to ensure their protection,&#8221;\u200c said South\u200d Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Leading \u200cthe coalition, Wilson was joined by eighteen states, including Alabama, Alaska, \u2062Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, \u200dMissouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and West Virginia.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I believe the Court wrongly ruled against the\u2064 law, and \u200cI&#8217;m happy to lead a coalition of\u2062 support for the law on appeal,&#8221; Wilson added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The law, signed by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee in March,\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/18-state-coalition-legal-group-file-briefs-against-court-ruling-that-deemed-tn-law-shielding-kids-from-sexually-explicit-performances-unconstitutional\/\" title=\"18-State Coalition, Legal Group Oppose Ruling Deeming TN Law Protecting Kids from Explicit Performances 'Unconstitutional'\">prohibits \u2064adult cabaret male<\/a> or female impersonators from engaging in explicit performances on public property. However, \u200csuch performances, known as &#8220;drag shows,&#8221; \u2064are \u200cstill permitted in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/18-state-coalition-legal-group-appeal-ruling-that-deemed-tn-law-shielding-kids-from-sexually-explicit-performances-unconstitutional\/\" title=\"18-State Coalition, Legal Group Challenge Ruling on TN Law Protecting Kids from Explicit Performances\">age-restricted venues<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>America First Legal, a non-profit legal group, expressed \u200ctheir support for the law and their commitment to defending the rights of Tennesseeans.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;We are proud to stand \u2062with our friends in Tennessee in defense of innocent children, and in opposition to erroneous, sweeping court orders that misapply the law based on the\u2063 urging of\u2063 radical activists,&#8221; said Gene \u2062Hamilton, vice president and general counsel of America First Legal.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The legal group \u2063argued that the district \u200ccourt&#8217;s ruling allowed &#8220;pride&#8221; parade organizers, &#8220;drag queens,&#8221; and other performers to expose children to explicit content. They emphasized the importance of protecting \u2063children from such harmful experiences.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;No child should ever be\u2063 exposed to the conduct at issue in this case \u2014 ever \u2014 and it is our hope that the Sixth Circuit overturns the injunction in this\u200d case,&#8221; Hamilton concluded.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A coalition of states and a non-profit legal group have filed briefs opposing a district court ruling that aimed to halt a Tennessee law limiting sexually explicit performances in front of children.
