U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell, an Obama appointee, issued a default judgment \u200cagainst Giuliani, holding him liable \u200cfor\u200b defamation, civil conspiracy, and emotional distress.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cDonning \u200ca \u2062cloak of\u200b victimization may play\u200d well on a public stage to certain\u2062 audiences, but in a court of law this performance has\u200b served only to subvert\u200c the normal process of discovery\u200d in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-judge-drops-57-page-decision-in-rudy-giuliani-election-workers-case\/\" title=\"Federal judge issues 57-page ruling in Giuliani's election workers case.\">straight-forward \u200cdefamation case<\/a>,\u201d Howell wrote.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The judgment, spanning 57 pages, was entered after Giuliani failed\u200c to comply with his discovery \u2062obligations, including\u2063 the preservation of electronic records requested by the \u200battorneys for election workers Ruby Freeman \u2063and Shaye Moss.<\/p>\n<p>Howell emphasized the seriousness\u200d of bypassing the discovery process, stating, \u201cJust as \u200ctaking shortcuts to win an\u2062 election carries risks \u2014 even potential criminal liability \u2014 bypassing the discovery process\u200d carries serious sanctions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A trial will be \u2064held between November and\u200d February\u200d to determine the amount of damages the \u200belection workers will be awarded, as determined\u200d by Howell. Additionally, Giuliani will be required to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/they-must-have-been-cheating-watchdog-group-sues-for-records-relating-to-derogatory-comments-bidens-atf-pick-allegedly-made-against-black-agents\/\" title=\"\u2018They Must Have Been Cheating\u2019: Watchdog Group Sues For Records Relating To Derogatory Comments Biden\u2019s ATF Pick Allegedly Made Against Black Agents\">produce records related<\/a> to revenue\u2062 generated by his podcast, \u201cCommon Sense,\u201d and previously\u2063 requested financial\u2063 documents by Sept. 20.<\/p>\n<p>In response \u200dto the\u200c ruling, Ted Goodman, an adviser\u2062 to Giuliani, criticized\u2062 the decision, stating, \u201cThis decision should be reversed,\u200d as \u200dMayor Giuliani is wrongly accused of not preserving electronic evidence that was seized and held by the FBI.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a July court filing, Giuliani\u200d conceded \u2064that the claims he made about Freeman and Moss were \u200cfalse.
