They were later joined by \u2064members\u2063 of\u200d the Screen Actors Guild.<\/p>\n<p>PARCEL DELIVERY<\/p>\n<p>Teamsters union workers at United Parcel Service ratified a new five-year contract in August, a deal that raises\u2064 pay, \u2062eliminates a \u200ctwo-tier wage\u200c system for drivers, provides\u2062 another paid \u200bholiday, and ends forced overtime.<\/p>\n<p>FedEx pilots have\u200d been involved in a\u200c stand-off with the parcel delivery firm over wages \u2063and legacy \u200cpensions. Pilots rejected a tentative deal in July, and negotiations are expected to restart.<\/p>\n<p>AIRLINES &#038; AEROSPACE FIRMS<\/p>\n<p>Pilots \u2063at several airlines including American Airlines,\u200b Delta Airlines, United\u2063 Airlines \u200cHoldings, Spirit Airlines, Jetblue Airways negotiated new\u2064 job contracts this\u200b year.<\/p>\n<p>Members of \u2063some unions like the Southwest \u2063Airlines Pilots Association have voted to authorize a strike\u2063 if a new\u2063 contract\u2063 is not reached.<\/p>\n<p>Spirit AeroSystems negotiated a new contract to end a strike that \u200cled to \u2064a week-long work stoppage at its \u2064plant in\u200d Wichita, Kansas.<\/p>\n<p>AUTOMOTIVE<\/p>\n<p>United Auto Workers (UAW) union on \u2063Aug. 25 said members voted overwhelmingly \u200din favor of authorizing a \u200dstrike \u200bat the\u200c Detroit\u200d Three automakers if an\u2064 agreement over wages and pension plans is not reached before the current four-year\u200b contract expires \u200bon Sept. 14.<\/p>\n<p>MANUFACTURING<\/p>\n<p>U.S. steel\u2064 producer Cleveland-Cliffs Inc has reached\u200c a tentative agreement with the\u200b United Steelworkers (USW) union on a new three-year labor \u200bagreement for its\u2063 Northshore mining\u2064 operations.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Steel, which is reviewing multiple\u2063 proposals \u200dranging from partial\u2062 acquisition to an entire buyout,\u200b is embroiled in \u200ba tussle with the United Steel Workers \u2062union. \u200bThe company\u2019s unionized workers say\u2063 they essentially have the power to veto any transaction they \u2062do not approve of.<\/p>\n<p>CONSUMER &#038; RETAIL<\/p>\n<p>More\u200b than \u200c3,000 workers at more than 150\u200d Starbucks stores in the\u200c U.S. held \u2064strikes in June, following claims the company \u2064had banned \u2064Pride\u200c Month decorations at some of\u200d its cafes.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of\u2063 Los \u2064Angeles-area hotel staffers went on a three-day\u200b strike in July over improved wages,\u2062 benefits, and working \u2063conditions.
