In a civil case last year, a jury\u200d in federal court in Colorado ordered the \u200bDenver authorities to pay \u2064$14 \u2063million \u200bin damages \u2064to 12 protesters after finding that police officers had\u2064 used \u2064excessive force \u2064against them\u200c in 2020.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Denver\u200d is just the latest city to \u200bshell\u2062 out millions to BLM protesters. At least 19 cities across the United States have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2023\/may\/25\/us-cities-settlement-protesters-blm-racial-justice\">paid<\/a> out\u2063 at least \u200b$80 million to protesters\u200b who claimed harm at the hands of police during the summer 2020 protests.\u2064 Philadelphia is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/03\/20\/us\/philadelphia-protests-settlement.html\">paying<\/a> more than $9 million to BLM \u200cprotesters.<\/p>\n<p>New York City agreed in July to pay protesters \u200bin what\u2063 could be the most expensive payout \u200bever for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/denver-agrees-to-pay-millions-to-arrested-blm-protesters\/\" title=\"Denver to compensate arrested BLM protesters with millions.\">lawsuit \u2063surrounding mass arrests<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>City \u200bofficials <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/wireStory\/new-york-city-agrees-pay-13-million-2020-101509410\">agreed<\/a> \u200bto pay $13 \u2064million to settle a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kenosha-city-council-votes-17-0-to-reject-jacob-blakes-claim-for-damages-from-police-shooting\/\" title=\"Kenosha City Council Votes 17-0 To Reject Jacob Blake\u2019s Claim For Damages From Police Shooting\">civil rights suit<\/a> on behalf of people arrested\u2062 or allegedly beaten by police during the 2020 protests.
