Put \u2064simply, differential treatment based \u200don race and \u2062skin \u2064color,\u2063 even for purportedly \u2018benign\u2019 purposes, is unlawful,\u2063 divisive, and exposes your firm to serious legal\u2064 consequences, including potentially \u200cfines, damages, and injunctive relief,\u201d the letter said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The attorneys general referenced a recent Supreme Court ruling that\u2063 struck down racially-based acceptance policies at Harvard and the \u200bUniversity of North Carolina. They\u200d argued that this ruling \u2062can be applied to hiring practices in\u2063 the private sector, including at law firms.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u200d the letter,\u2063 racial discrimination may be present in law firms when it comes to employment and promotions, which would\u200b be \u2064a violation of federal law. The attorneys \u200dgeneral highlighted practices\u2064 such as explicit\u2062 racial \u200bquotas \u200dand preferences in\u200c hiring, recruiting, retention, promotion, and advancement,\u2064 as well as \u2063race-based contracting practices.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1692980418669000&#038;usg=AOvVaw15MNQZ1U33fOZBroIc4gYb\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The attorneys general \u2063also \u2063raised\u2064 concerns about DEI (diversity, equity, and\u200c inclusion) programming,\u200c stating \u200bthat activities\u2063 involving\u200d racial segregation, \u2064stereotyping, and scapegoating may \u200dviolate\u2064 civil rights \u200claws \u2063and create a hostile environment.<\/p>\n<p>The law firms were \u2062strongly advised to \u2062put an end to any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-ags-push-back-after-scotus-ruling-say-they-will-support-corporate-dei-efforts\/\" title=\"Democrat AGs vow to back corporate DEI efforts following SCOTUS ruling.\">unlawful race-based quotas<\/a> and to \u200bbe prepared for accountability if they choose\u200c not to comply. The attorneys general made\u2064 it clear that treating individuals differently because of\u200b the color of their\u200c skin will not go unpunished.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, similar\u200c warnings were\u200d issued by 13 \u200dRepublican attorneys \u200dgeneral to Fortune 500 companies, \u200cciting the Supreme Court&#8217;s landmark decision in Students for Fair Admissions v.
