These individuals, leaders \u2064of the radical right-wing group \u200cProud Boys, appeared in a Washington, D.C., courtroom on Tuesday, donning orange jumpsuits. The anticipation was palpable as U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly deliberated on sentencing guidelines and the\u200c potential \u2062application\u200d of\u200b &#8220;terrorist enhancements.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Prosecutors\u200c Seek Unprecedented Prison Terms<\/h3>\n<p>Prosecutors are pushing for prison sentences that would surpass the longest punishment handed down thus far, which stands at 18\u200b years for Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes. Four out of\u200b the five \u200bdefendants were \u2064previously found\u2063 guilty of seditious conspiracy and\u2062 conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, charges that echo those faced by former President \u200cDonald\u200c Trump for\u2063 his alleged attempts to overturn \u2062the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>All five defendants were also convicted of obstruction of an\u200b official proceeding, \u2063destruction of federal \u2064property, \u200dand interference\u2063 with police \u2062during a civil\u2063 disorder, among other offenses.<\/p>\n<p>Enrique Tarrio, the former national chairman of the\u200b Proud Boys, is scheduled to receive his sentence on Wednesday. Although Tarrio was not\u2063 physically present in\u200b Washington, D.C., on \u2063the day of the riot, court \u200crecords indicate\u2062 his significant involvement in organizing \u2062the event. He urged \u200bthose at the Capitol not to leave and referred \u200bto them\u200b as &#8220;revolutionaries.&#8221; He even shared a photo of \u200cfrightened lawmakers \u2064in\u200c hiding.\u200b In\u2064 the aftermath, he posted\u2064 defiant messages, including &#8220;I&#8217;m not denouncing s**t&#8221; \u2063and &#8220;f**k the system.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The remaining defendants, Joseph \u2064Biggs, Zachary Rehl,\u200d Ethan Nordean, and Dominic Pezzola, will receive\u200d their sentences later\u200b in \u2062the week. Prosecutors are seeking 30 years \u2063for Biggs and\u200c Rehl, \u206327 years for Nordean, and 20 years for Pezzola.<\/p>\n<h3>A Trial Filled \u2064with \u200cDamning Evidence<\/h3>\n<p>The sentencing follows a\u200d four-month trial that presented a \u2062wealth \u200bof evidence to the jury.
