Tate Reeves, a Republican, said in a recent \u2063statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the\u2062 early days of COVID, there was understandable uncertainty. We did not yet know what we were facing. As the months unfolded, \u200cit became\u2063 clear that there were two pandemics. But the increase is a considerably\u200d smaller than previous so-called COVID-19 &#8220;waves&#8221; since 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn upswing is not a surge; it\u2019s not even a wave,\u201d \u2062Dr. Shira Doron, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/never-going-back-governor-refuses-to-implement-covid-mask-mandates\/\" title=\"Governor stands firm, rejects COVID mask mandates.\">chief infection control \u2063officer<\/a> for \u200cTufts Medicine, told ABC News last week. \u200c\u201cWhat we\u2019re seeing is a very gradual and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-agency-responds-to-rumors-of-coming-covid-19-lockdown\/\" title=\"Federal agency addresses COVID-19 lockdown rumors.\">small upward trajectory<\/a>\u200d of cases\u200d and hospitalizations, without deaths\u200c really going along, which is great news.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The federal government, including \u200dthe CDC \u200cand Transportation Security Administration (TSA), do not currently have any mask mandates in effect.\u2062 A TSA spokesperson told \u200bThe Epoch Times several days \u200cago that rumors suggesting mask mandates or lockdowns will \u2064come back later \u200bin the fall \u200care false, while the CDC\u2064 told NBC News that there have been no discussions \u2063to bring back masks.<\/p>\n<p>But \u200bsome businesses have reimplemented mask mandates in recent days\u2014namely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/article\/these-hospitals-across-the-us-are-bringing-back-mask-mandates-5481823\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hospitals<\/a> in California\u200c and New York. Several hospitals have made masking mandatory for anyone entering the premises, including visitors and patients, while several have only \u200dimplemented mask-wearing for staff, nurses, \u200dand physicians.<\/p>\n<p>In \u200bone instance, Kaiser Permanente&#8217;s location in Santa Rosa,\u200d California, said it would mandate \u2062masks for anyone\u200c coming \u2064into the hospital. However, several days later, the hospital told a local paper the \u200cstatement\u2062 was erroneous and that the rule only applies to staff,\u2062 not patients\u200d or \u2062visitors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur intent \u2064was \u2062to communicate that as of Tuesday, we have expanded the masking requirement for \u2064our employees and physicians to medical offices and clinic\u2062 settings; we apologize for any confusion\u200b among Press Democrat readers,\u201d the hospital\u2019s updated statement said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVisitors, patients, and members are strongly encouraged to \u2064also wear masks in these settings,\u201d it continued. \u201cWe have not changed \u2064our masking requirements in the hospital, \u2063which have \u200bbeen in \u2062effect since April: employees and physicians are required to wear masks and we ask visitors to wear masks when in\u2062 the hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">historically black college<\/a> in Atlanta as well as Hollywood \u2062studio Lionsgate\u200b said they, too, would re-implement mask mandates. However, Lionsgate said it \u2062had rescinded its mandate this \u2063week, saying that it was the \u200bLos Angeles Department of\u2062 Health that forced its hand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe LA County Department of Public Health notified us yesterday that we could \u2062lift the mask requirements, effective immediately, and we have,\u201d the Hollywood film studio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/lionsgate-covid-19-lifts-temporary-mask-requirements-covid-cases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> news outlets over the past weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The statement also said: \u201cLionsgate never changed its own\u200b mask policy. The LA County Department of \u2064Health ordered us to institute the temporary masking requirement after we reported \u2062a cluster of COVID cases to\u2064 them and we have an obligation to comply with their \u2063orders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, on Monday, Mr. Reeves\u00a0said that if people want to, they have the right to put on masks in the state of Mississippi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you want to take extraordinary measures to protect yourself from COVID-19, you have the right to do \u200dthat,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Amid talks of COVID-19 mask mandates&#8217; potential comeback, one governor firmly opposes their return.
