However, the company \u200dcontinues to insist that they turned off the electricity before another fire started \u2063in\u2064 the same region.\u200b Maui County claimed that the company ignored warnings of high winds \u2063and other\u200c potential \u200bfire warnings\u2063 from weather officials.<\/p>\n<p>Hawaiian \u2064Electric\u2019s\u200c president and CEO, Shelee Kimura, said in a statement \u200dthat the lawsuit\u2019s assertions were \u201cfactually and legally irresponsible.\u201d She continued to state \u2064that the company\u2019s \u200cresearch \u200drevealed that it responded quickly \u2062to both \u200cfires.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200dcompany issued a\u2062 timeline of what it claimed occurred that day \u2064and stated\u200d that it has supplied data to the Bureau of\u2064 Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, which is\u200d investigating the cause of the tragic wildfires.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u2062 Maui Electric, high winds toppled a power\u200d line that caused a\u2063 fire near \u2063Lahainaluna High School early that morning. <\/p>\n<p>They stated \u200bthat the \u2063fire department fought the \u200dfire and that it was \u201c100% contained\u201d by 9 a.m. Around this time, the utility claimed to\u2064 have turned off the power.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThere\u2064 was no electricity flowing through\u200d the wires\u200d in \u200bthe area or anywhere else on the\u2062 West Maui coast,\u201d Maui Electric said in a\u200d statement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Maui Electric said it dispatched emergency technicians to make repairs, \u200dbut the power lines remained de-energized and the power stayed off.<\/p>\n<p>According to the\u200b Maui County complaint, \u200bthe\u200d island\u2019s utilities failed to act \u200dand prepare \u200dafter the National \u2062Weather \u200dService\u200b issued a red flag warning on August\u2064 7<sup>th<\/sup> \u200b that \u200dread \u201cwarm\u200d temperatures, very low humidity, and stronger winds\u2063 are expected\u200d to combine to produce an increased risk of\u200c fire danger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u2063lawsuit claimed that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/maui-electric-responds-to-county-lawsuit\/\" title=\"Maui Electric addresses County lawsuit.\">downed power lines allegedly\u00a0\u201cignited dry fuel<\/a> such\u200b as grass and brush,\u200c causing the fires.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The cause \u200bof the fire has not been determined and it is still under\u2063 investigation. <\/p>\n<p>Stay informed!
