Their activities\u2063 involve developing strategies to \u200cincorporate gender diversity into school \u200dpractices. This information was uncovered\u200b by \u200bthe watchdog group OpenTheBooks.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2063grant&#8217;s purpose is \u2064for Gender\u200d Spectrum \u2063to conduct \u200ba thorough evaluation of the\u200b effectiveness of its programs. One of these programs includes the creation of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openthebooks.com\/assets\/1\/6\/8.23_Fillable_Student_Gender_Support_Plan_2023.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">six-page form<\/a> for students to submit their preferred pronouns to\u2062 school districts. It also asks whether school staff should conceal the use of these pronouns from parents.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Supporting Students&#8217; Gender Journeys<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s not always the case that caregivers are supportive of their child&#8217;s gender, their gender journey. In that case, \u2063if parents are not supportive or\u200b if the child is not out, that&#8217;s not necessarily someone who will be part of the gender support team,&#8221; said Naomi Cruz, the manager of family and educational programming\u2064 at Gender Spectrum.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>During the group&#8217;s annual Gender Spectrum Family Conference, Cruz delivered a presentation titled &#8220;Intro to Neoidentities and \u2062Neopronouns.&#8221; The presentation introduced pronouns that describe\u200b gender as \u2063a personal, aesthetic,\u200d synesthetic, or head-space oriented experience. These pronouns\u200d include &#8220;noun genders&#8221; like &#8220;foxgender,&#8221; &#8220;moongender,&#8221; and &#8220;rockgender,&#8221; as well as unconventional &#8220;emojiself\u200c pronouns&#8221; such as &#8220;:)self.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Empowering Youth to Embrace Their Unique \u200bIdentities<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;Our youth are becoming more and more independent regarding their self-expression. Instead of\u2063 trying to fit into \u200cpremade boxes, they&#8217;re using \u2062their unique identities and forms of expression to create terminology to describe themselves,&#8221; the presentation stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The presentation also\u2062 emphasized that youth are on a &#8220;gender journey,&#8221;\u200d and their genders may evolve over time. \u200dHowever, parents are \u200bencouraged to affirm these identities,\u2064 except when \u2062they appropriate a racial, ethnic, religious, or disability group they do not belong to. \u200dIn \u2063such cases, parents are advised to suggest alternative terms or pronouns that hold personal\u2062 meaning without appropriating closed identities and pronouns.<\/p>\n<p>Curiously, it \u2064remains unclear why youth do not need permission \u200dfrom foxes before adopting fox-related identities.<\/p>\n<p>While Gender Spectrum aims to expand its programs nationwide, it seems that the organization has <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230709131754\/https:\/\/www.genderspectrum.org\/work\/conference-and-symposium\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">taken down its website<\/a> after attracting attention.<\/p>\n<p>OpenTheBooks discovered that California previously granted \u2064$1.1 \u200dmillion to Gender Spectrum for a \u2064&#8221;pilot project&#8221; from 2017 to 2022. The grant was \u200dextended until 2026, with \u200dthe fee doubled last\u200b year.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Improving Mental Health and \u200dGender Understanding<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;As a \u2062result\u2063 of our work, students who fall all\u2064 along the gender spectrum will\u200c see their experience recognized and affirmed\u200d in \u2064their school,&#8221; stated the initial <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openthebooks.com\/assets\/1\/6\/8.23_16-10528_Executed_1229_1of2-3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">grant application<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The grant\u2062 application argued that recognizing and affirming diverse gender identities would reduce mental illness among LGBTQ children. \u200dIt cited \u200dstatistics showing that 41.5% of \u2063transgender youth have seriously considered suicide. The application also claimed that cisgender young people would have a better understanding of gender and be more comfortable with their own gender expression as\u2063 a\u200b result \u200cof the\u2062 program.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about evidence of the program&#8217;s effectiveness, the application \u200badmitted that resources\u200c were \u2063insufficient to measure the impact of their trainings.\u200c However, initial findings \u2062from individual schools\u2062 indicated positive results, including significant changes in participants&#8217; knowledge, intent \u2064to\u2063 use gender-inclusive practices, and \u2062recognition of \u2064the importance of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pennsylvania-education-department-says-kids-as-young-as-3-can-identify-as-transgender\/\" title=\"Pennsylvania Education Department Says Kids as Young as 3 Can Identify as Transgender\">creating gender-inclusive schools<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the application did not mention whether the program led \u200bto a decrease in suicidal tendencies among students.<\/p>\n<p>Gender Spectrum was previously involved in the development of \u200dthe &#8220;National Sex Education Standards.&#8221; These standards propose that by second grade, students should be\u200d able to define gender identity, and by fifth grade, they\u200b should understand \u2064the\u2063 role of puberty blockers, according to OpenTheBooks.<\/p>\n<p>Despite\u2062 the higher suicide rates associated\u200c with\u2062 nontraditional gender identities, Kim Westheimer, an official from Gender Spectrum, expressed at the 2022 conference that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/youth-activists-who-lectured-dianne-feinstein-in-2019-are-back-and-now-they-say-they-wont-leave-until-she-meets-demands\/\" title=\"Youth Activists Who Lectured Dianne Feinstein In 2019 Are Back And Now They Say They Won\u2019t Leave Until She Meets Demands\">allowing young people<\/a> \u2062to explore and experiment with their identities is a positive thing.<\/p>\n<p>OpenTheBooks also discovered that the \u200dorganization received $297,000 in coronavirus loans from\u200d the federal government.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Controversy Surrounding Radical Content in Schools<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;How many taxpayers\u200c can tolerate paying for their children \u2063to be \u200dconfronted with such controversial \u2063and confusing material?&#8221; questioned Adam Andrzejewski, the founder \u200dof OpenTheBooks.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Recently, California lawmakers introduced a bill titled &#8220;Instructional materials: removing instructional materials and curriculum: diversity.&#8221; This bill aims to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-bill-preventing-local-school-board-from-rejecting-textbooks-in-limbo\/\" title=\"California bill to prevent local school boards from rejecting textbooks remains uncertain.\">prevent local school boards<\/a> from refusing to \u2064teach radical content, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-awards-grant-to-nonprofit-encouraging-kids-to-identify-as-foxgender-teaching-schools-to-hide-it\/\" title=\"California grants funds to nonprofit promoting 'Foxgender' identity and instructing schools to conceal it.\">including gender-related materials produced<\/a> by California&#8217;s Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom&#8217;s \u2062wife.
