(NTD)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The \u2062charges against President Trump and his associates revolve around alleged unlawful behavior following \u2063the 2020 election. Each of the 18 defendants in the case faces racketeering charges under the Georgia \u2063Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, a law typically used against large criminal enterprises.<\/p>\n<p>Fani Willis&#8217;s use\u200c of this legislation in President Trump&#8217;s case has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-state-department-is-putting-brazilian-trans-activists-in-english-classes\/\" title=\"Brazilian trans activists are receiving English classes from Biden's State Department.\">sparked controversy due<\/a> to its unusual application.<\/p>\n<p>By entering a plea early,\u200b each defendant \u2063waives their obligation \u200dto appear in court for \u200darraignment on Sept. 6. This move may be followed by\u200d others charged in the\u200c case.<\/p>\n<p>Sidney Powell, along with the\u200c other defendants, is charged with a RICO violation. She also faces multiple\u2062 counts of conspiracy, including \u2062election fraud, \u2062computer theft, computer trespass, computer invasion of privacy, and\u2063 defrauding the \u200bstate. Each charge is a felony.<\/p>\n<p>Trevian Kutti is charged with RICO, conspiracy to commit solicitation of false statements and writings, and influencing witnesses. Like Powell, \u200ceach charge is a felony.<\/p>\n<p>Ray Smith is charged with violating the RICO Act and 11 other offenses, including solicitation of violation of oath of \u2064office, false statements and writing, impersonating a public officer, forgery, and filing false documents.<\/p>\n<p>President Trump \u200cand his\u200b allies argue that the charges are politically motivated and \u2063infringe on their First Amendment rights. They maintain \u200cthat contesting the election results and\u200d investigating fraud were within their rights.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to\u200c the Georgia case, President Trump is \u200cfacing charges in three other cases. One accuses\u2063 him of unlawfully overturning the 2020 election\u2062 results in Washington, while another charges him with illegal retention \u200dof classified documents.
