Lawmakers and consumer\u2062 safety regulators are \u2063calling for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-an-influential-medical-journal-laundered-progressivism-as-public-health\/\" title=\"How an Influential Medical Journal Laundered Progressivism as \u2018Public Health\u2019\">complete ban<\/a> on these items by Meta, Facebook&#8217;s parent company.<\/p>\n<p>Despite numerous individual requests to remove these \u2062used items from Marketplace, more similar products continue to be listed,\u200d as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/lifestyle\/recalled-products-tied-infant-deaths-still-being-sold-metas-facebook-marketplace-lawmakers-say\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox Business<\/a>. While Meta does <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/facebook-marketplace-accused-of-putting-infant-lives-at-risk-heres-what-was-being-sold\/\" title=\"Facebook Marketplace accused of endangering infants: What was being sold?\">honor individual removal requests<\/a>, items that were recalled \u200cas far back as\u2062 2019 are still \u2064being found and made available for \u2062purchase by new parents.<\/p>\n<p>One such item\u200d is the Rock\u200b &#8216;n Play Sleeper \u200bfrom Fisher-Price. This bassinet was recalled\u200c by the company in \u200b2019 after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/retail\/fisher-price-recalls-rock-n-play-sleepers-infant-deaths\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">30 initial fatal\u200d incidents<\/a> were \u2063reported. \u2064According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpsc.gov\/Recalls\/2023\/Fisher-Price-Reannounces-Recall-of-4-7-Million-Rock-n-Play-Sleepers-At-Least-Eight-Deaths-Occurred-After-Recall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)<\/a>, at least\u200b eight infants died in the sleepers after the initial recall, and approximately \u200d70 additional \u200dfatalities have been reported since then.<\/p>\n<p>The CPSC further stated that a total \u2062of 4.7 million Rock &#8216;n Play Sleeper units were\u2062 part of the\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-trader-joes-recalls-soup-may-contain-bugs-falafel-may-rocks-grocer-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recall<\/a>. Despite this, these recalled items are\u200d still being sold on Meta&#8217;s servers, according to lawmakers.<\/p>\n<p>Another product that the CPSC reported as still\u2064 being sold on Facebook\u200c Marketplace is \u200cthe Boppy Newborn Lounger. This product was recalled in 2021 after eight infant deaths were attributed to its use. The CPSC warned that \u2062infants can\u2064 suffocate if they roll, move, \u2063or\u200d are placed on the lounger \u2064in a \u2062position that obstructs breathing.<\/p>\n<p>Regulators and Boppy have both cautioned parents against using the\u2062 product, but listings for it continue to appear on\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/airline-passenger-claims-jacket-missing-luggage-later-found-facebook-marketplace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook \u2062Marketplace<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A bipartisan group\u2062 of lawmakers has sent a letter to Meta CEO \u200cMark Zuckerberg, expressing\u2063 concern over the approximately 1,000 monthly\u200c requests to remove\u200c listings for these items. \u200dThe lawmakers criticized \u200bMeta for\u200b not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/buttigieg-says-transportation-department-working-to-avert-summer-travel-disruptions-amid-demand-surge\/\" title=\"Buttigieg: Transportation Dept. Preventing Summer Travel Disruptions Amid High Demand.\">taking proactive measures<\/a> to prevent\u200c such postings and highlighted the risk posed to \u2062users and their\u2062 children.<\/p>\n<p>Meta has \u2064acknowledged\u200b that the\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/alexander-hornung-recalls-2-3m-pounds-of-pork-over-listeria-concerns\/\" title=\"Alexander &#038; Hornung Recalls 2.3M Pounds of Pork over Listeria Concerns\">recalled products<\/a> are being posted for sale on their platform, but it remains\u2063 unclear if the\u2062 sellers are aware of\u2064 the recalls.
