Critics argue that the program,\u2064 known as the \u200bNASCAR Diversity Internship Program, may be in violation of the \u200blaw.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2063 program offers paid \u200cinternships \u200dto college students, providing them with \u2062valuable mentorship in the racing industry. However, one of the requirements for applicants is to belong to one or more \u200cethnicities, with white \u2062or\u200c Caucasian \u200bnot being included\u200b on the\u200d list.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cHaving a\u2062 100% quota for minorities\u2063 for a position is illegal even under\u200d a very generous view of \u2064what is allowed,\u201d stated\u200c David Bernstein, \u200ba law professor \u2064at George Mason \u2063University.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bernstein \u200bfurther argues \u200cthat this program is &#8220;blatantly illegal&#8221; and appears \u200dto violate Title VII and the 1866 Civil \u200cRights Act. Title VII, enforced by \u200cthe Federal \u200dTrade Commission, protects\u2063 individuals from \u200ddiscrimination based on race, color, religion, \u2062sex, \u2063and \u200dnational \u200dorigin in all aspects \u200dof employment.<\/p>\n<h3>NASCAR&#8217;s Commitment to Diversity<\/h3>\n<p>In \u200daddition to\u200b the \u200bcontroversial \u200binternship program, NASCAR also offers \u200ca program\u200c called \u200c&#8221;Drive\u2064 for Diversity.&#8221; \u2062This initiative aims to\u2064 train \u2064individuals from\u200c minority and\u200b female backgrounds\u2063 to become drivers or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chase-elliott-wins-nascar-dover-cup-race\/\" title=\"Chase Elliott Wins NASCAR Dover Cup Race\">pit crew members<\/a>. The program&#8217;s requirements specify that \u200bapplicants must be women \u2062or belong to one or more \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/blatantly-illegal-nascar-bans-white-applicants-from-diversity-internship\/\" title=\"NASCAR's 'Diversity Internship' excludes white applicants, deemed illegal.\">ethnic minority classifications<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that NASCAR is not the only company facing criticism for creating \u200cprograms that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/eric-holder-was-paid-to-tell-starbucks-how-to-be-more-diverse-and-now-its-being-sued\/\" title=\"Eric Holder was hired by Starbucks for diversity advice, now faces lawsuit.\">exclude white individuals<\/a>. Retailer Best Buy, for example, received backlash for its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nascar-criticized-over-apparent-discrimination-in-diversity-internship\/\" title=\"NASCAR faces backlash for alleged diversity internship discrimination.\">professional development program \u200dexclusively<\/a> for employees who \u2063identify as\u2064 Black, Latino, Hispanic, Asian, or Pacific Islander.
