in military tensions \u200dafter reporting renewed Chinese military activity including fighter\u2063 jets crossing\u200b the sensitive median\u2064 line of the<span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\"> Taiwan <\/span>Strait.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Democratically governed<span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\"> Taiwan<\/span>, which\u200d China claims as its own territory, has complained for three years of increased military pressure from\u200c Beijing, mostly in \u200cthe form of China&#8217;s air force\u200b flying near the island.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry said that on Tuesday morning, it spotted 12 Chinese \u200bmilitary aircraft in\u2062 its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senator-urges-biden-administration-to-keep-confronting-china\/\" title=\"Senator Urges Biden Administration to Keep Confronting China\">air defense identification zone<\/a>,\u2063 of which seven crossed the median line\u2014six J-10 \u200dfighters and a single drone.<\/p>\n<p>Five Chinese ships also carried out &#8220;combat\u200b readiness patrols,&#8221; the ministry said, \u200dwithout giving a location.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200cmedian line had for\u200c years served as an unofficial barrier between the two sides, until China&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/taiwan-warns-of-sharp-increase-in-tensions-as-chinese-jets-enter-defense-zone\/\" title=\"Taiwan alerts of rising tensions as Chinese jets breach defense zone.\">air force began regularly crossing<\/a>\u2062 it a year ago.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The continued military harassment by the Communist military in the region may lead to a sharp increase in tensions \u200band worsen regional security,&#8221; the ministry said, calling on \u2064Beijing to &#8220;immediately stop such\u2064 unilateral acts.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Maintaining the peaceful and stable status quo in the<span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\"> Taiwan <\/span>Strait is critical to\u2062 the security and\u2062 prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region, and all parties, \u2062including Beijing, have a common responsibility to uphold it, the ministry added.<\/p>\n<p>The latest Chinese mission happened the same day Taipei mayor\u200d Chiang Wan-an, from<span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\"> Taiwan<\/span>&#8216;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chinafication-of-europe-eu-president-hints-at-bloc-wide-vaccine-mandate\/\" title=\"\u2018Chinafication of Europe\u2019: EU President Hints at Bloc-Wide Vaccine Mandate\">main opposition party<\/a> the Kuomintang which traditionally\u200c favors close relations with Beijing, arrived in Shanghai for \u2063annual city-to-city talks.<\/p>\n<p>His office said the city\u2064 government has many times reiterated that &#8220;the more difficult the environment is, the more the two sides should communicate.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What the people of<span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\"> Taiwan <\/span>want is peace and prosperity.
