Jonathan Zachreson, the\u2062 group&#8217;s founder, told the <em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em> he \u2062hopes to\u200b win backing from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ilhan-omar-other-leftists-distract-from-capitol-attack-by-focusing-on-gun-control-and-racism\/\" title=\"Ilhan Omar, Other Leftists, Distract From Capitol Attack By Focusing On Gun Control And Racism\">high-profile figures<\/a>\u2062 like Elon \u200cMusk, who \u200chas \u200bcondemned the \u200cstate&#8217;s gender policies for kids and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1646824088940232704?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1646824088940232704%7Ctwgr%5Ea1804fa39ee9f5044b07257475b7c368a6ca2c6b%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.foxbusiness.com%2Fpolitics%2Felon-musk-transgender-debate-says-prison-parent-doctor-sterilizes-child\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">called for \u2062life\u2064 in \u2064prison<\/a> for any parent or doctor who \u200c&#8221;sterilizes a child.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span>Groups opposed to California&#8217;s liberal transgender policies have gained strength this year. A\u200c statewide\u2063 poll in June <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/politics\/partner_surveys\/california_voters_support_parental_rights_by_overwhelming_margins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found<\/a> that 62 percent of California voters would support a law requiring schools \u2064to tell parents\u200b if their \u2062child\u200c is &#8220;identifying, requesting to identify, or being treated\u2063 as a gender that doesn\u2019t align with \u200ctheir biological sex.&#8221; <\/span><span>Several school boards in the state have \u200cpassed pro-parent policies that require teachers and schools to alert parents if their kids are experiencing gender confusion, ratcheting up tensions with state leaders. On Monday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/illinois-governors-office-made-secret-payments-to-former-campaign-aide-after-she-was-caught-stealing-from-taxpayers-lawsuit-says\/\" title=\"Illinois Governor\u2019s Office Made Secret Payments To Former Campaign Aide After She Was Caught Stealing From Taxpayers, Lawsuit Says\">state attorney general filed<\/a> a\u200d lawsuit against the Southern California school district that passed the first parental notification rule. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Still, they face a stiff fundraising \u200dchallenge to publicize\u200d their cause in California, where ballot\u200d measures are a high-cost proposition. Last year, companies \u200cand special interests spent more than $700 million on seven initiatives, including making\u2063 abortion up until birth a state constitutional right and expanding sports gambling. The proposals to counter the \u2062state&#8217;s trans policies seem poised to draw opposition from deep-pocketed groups\u2062 like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclunc.org\/our-work\/legislation\/school-success-and-opportunity-act-ab-1266\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ACLU,<\/a> \u2062the California Teachers Association, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/california\/the-powerful-lgbt-group-behind-californias-most-radical-laws-is-setting-its-sights-on-washington\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LGBT group Equality California<\/a>\u2014all of which back the policies that the ballot measures would \u200doverturn.<\/p>\n<p><span>Republican state lawmakers\u2062 rallied behind the initiatives along with activists like Cole, Erin \u200cFriday, who\u2062 co-leads \u2063the parents\u2019 group Our Duty, former athletes, and parents. They slammed critics for labeling them anti-transgender, saying they \u200dwant to \u200dsafeguard children and families from irreversible harm and\u200d protect girls&#8217; and women&#8217;s sports and privacy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>San Francisco&#8217;s \u2063Democratic state senator Scott Wiener, one of the legislature&#8217;s most prolific \u200dauthors \u200dof bills \u200cpromoting\u2062 gender ideology, \u200cpreviewed the opposition Monday as he <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Scott_Wiener\/status\/1696163000632189376\">tweeted<\/a> that &#8220;extremists who are so obsessed with trans kids&#8221; are &#8220;pushing\u200b proposals that will result in more of these kids staying in the closet &#038; \u200ccommitting suicide.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The initiatives must undergo a public comment period and fiscal analysis that could take up to 65 days. Then supporters will have six months to gather 550,000 valid signatures to put these measures up for a statewide vote next November.<\/p>\n<p><span>Two of the initiatives would overturn existing laws. Legislation \u200dfrom 2013 decreed \u200dthat kids could use a locker room or restroom and play on \u200cthe sports team\u200d of their choosing, on the basis of gender identity. But it largely escaped public awareness\u200c until the past couple of\u200b years, \u200das more <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/california\/california-transgender-girls-sports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>boys are\u2064 competing against girls <\/span><\/a><span>and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/transgender-california-track-and-field\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-activists-file-ballot-initiatives-to-counter-states-transgender-policies\/\" title=\"California activists have submitted ballot initiatives to challenge the state's transgender policies.\">taking elite competition slots<\/a><\/span><\/a><span>  and minors are using opposite-sex facilities, making their <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/california\/bathroom-monitors-and-no-urinals-california-school-district-stretches-to-protect-kids-without-violating-trans-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>peers and adult faculty who have to \u200bsupervise \u2063locker rooms<\/span><\/a><span>  uncomfortable. <a href=\"https:\/\/harvardharrispoll.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/HHP_June2023_KeyResults.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A poll<\/a> from Harvard\u2019s Center \u2062for American\u2064 Political \u200cStudies found that 77 percent of Americans believe minors should not be \u200cable to get sex-change treatments or hormones, including 75 percent of Californians.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Last year, Gov.
