Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and another letter\u2062 from Rep. James Comer\u200b (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Committee\u200b on Oversight and Accountability, identifying \u200bthe three pseudonym email accounts as having allegedly been used by\u2064 President Biden in some communications when he was vice president.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in August, Mr. \u2062Comer\u2064 also called on \u2062NARA to grant him unrestricted access to the unredacted email communications between\u200c President Biden\u2014during his time \u2064as vice president\u2014and his son and business partners.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-left:0;margin-right:0;max-width:1200px\">\n<figure style=\"width:640px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Hunter \u200dBiden leaves the J. (Madalina Vasiliu\/The Epoch \u2062Times)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>NARA Yet to Release Alleged Emails<\/h2>\n<p>In its announcement,\u2064 the Southeastern Legal Foundation said it initially filed a\u2064 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)\u2064 request (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.slfliberty.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2023\/08\/20211001-SLF-Email-to-NARA-re.-FOIA-Request.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) to the archives for President \u200cBiden&#8217;s emails in 2021, at \u200bwhich point \u200dNARA \u200bresponded that &#8220;because it did not\u2063 take custody of then-vice president\u2019s records until January 20, 2017, the emails could \u200cnot be made\u2064 public until January 20, 2022.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the legal group renewed \u200bits FOIA in 2022, it said.<\/p>\n<p>Following that renewed request, \u2063NARA allegedly told the nonprofit that it had performed\u200d a search of its collection \u200bof\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/national-archives-to-release-hundreds-of-emails-on-hunter-biden-unless-white-house-intervenes\/\" title=\"National Archives To Release Hundreds Of Emails On Hunter Biden Unless White House Intervenes\">vice presidential records<\/a> and identified &#8220;approximately 5,138 email messages, 25 electronic files and 200 pages \u2064of \u200bpotentially responsive \u2064records that must be \u200bprocessed \u2063in\u2063 order to respond \u200cto your\u200d request.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, the agency noted that FOIA requests are\u2064 &#8220;subject \u200cto\u2062 the provisions\u2062 of\u200c NARA \u200bregulations&#8221; under which it \u2063is required \u2063to\u200c &#8220;notify the representatives of the \u200cformer President and the incumbent\u2064 President and the former Vice President prior to the release \u200bof\u200b any Vice Presidential records.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Those \u2064regulations could add, \u200bat a minimum,\u2064 an extra 60 days \u200buntil the records could be produced, \u200daccording to the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>However, the\u2064 Southeastern Legal Foundation claims NARA has yet to hand over a single one of the alleged emails, prompting it to file the latest lawsuit urging the agency to release the documents.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;More than 430 days have passed since Defendant acknowledged receipt of the\u200c FOIA \u2062request on June 22, \u20642022. Defendant has\u2063 failed \u2063to meet the statutory requirement\u2064 to make the records promptly available,&#8221;\u2062 the lawsuit states. &#8220;Accordingly, SLF files this lawsuit to compel Defendant to \u2062comply with FOIA.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:0;margin-right:0;max-width:1200px\">\n<figure style=\"width:640px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Chairman of the Full\u2062 Committee on Oversight and Accountability Rep. When they do, many seek to hide \u200bit. The only way to preserve governmental integrity is for NARA to release Biden\u2019s nearly 5,400 \u2064emails to SLF and thus the public. The American \u200cpublic deserves to know what is in them,\u201d Kimberly Hermann, Southeastern\u2064 Legal Foundation\u2062 general counsel, said in a statement announcing the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>The Epoch Times has contacted NARA\u200d for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Comer, one of many\u2063 Republican lawmakers who has asked \u200cNARA to \u200chand over the alleged emails, noted earlier this month that \u200cPresident\u200b Biden has stated \u2062there \u200bwas an &#8220;absolute \u2063wall&#8221; \u2064between his family\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-republicans-investigate-government-contracts-and-loans-awarded-to-biden-donors\/\" title=\"House Republicans Investigate Government Contracts and Loans Awarded to Biden Donors\">foreign business schemes<\/a> and his duties as vice president.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Kentucky lawmaker said\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/top-republican-seeks-records-of-biden-using-pseudonym-while-vp-5472463\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mounting evidence<\/a> has revealed &#8220;that\u200c access was \u200bwide open for his family\u2019s influence \u2063peddling.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We\u200c already have evidence of \u200cthen-Vice President Biden speaking, dining, and having coffee with his son\u2019s foreign business associates,&#8221; Mr. Comer said in a \u2062statement. &#8220;We also know \u200dthat Hunter Biden and his associates \u200dwere informed of\u200c then-Vice President\u200d Biden\u2019s\u2063 official \u200bgovernment duties\u2062 in countries\u200b where \u2063 <\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) allegedly acknowledged having numerous emails sent by President Joe Biden under pseudonyms during his vice presidency.
