This allergy, which can \u200bbe life-threatening, is caused by an illness spread by\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cdc-study-meat-allergy-caused-by-tick-bite-becoming-more-common\/\" title=\"CDC Study: Tick Bite Linked to Increasing Meat Allergy\">lone star ticks<\/a>, a\u200b species common in\u2063 Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>Lone star ticks are\u2064 also found in other parts of the United States, as well as in Mexico and Canada.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;We do have a lot of lone star \u200cticks here\u200c in Virginia, so we \u200dthink that\u2019s driving a\u200c lot of what \u2063we are seeing in Virginia when\u200c it comes to alpha-gal\u2062 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/will-covid-numbers-now-shift-for-bidens-benefit\/\" title=\"Will COVID Numbers Now Shift for Biden\u2019s Benefit?\">people testing positive<\/a> for alpha-gal,&#8221; said Julia Murphy, a\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/officials-issue-warning-on-unusual-health-scare-spreading-across-us\/\" title=\"Officials warn of a peculiar health scare rapidly spreading in the US.\">state public health veterinarian<\/a> \u200dwith\u200c the Virginia Department \u200bof Health.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Despite\u200b the increasing cases, there is still\u2063 much that is unknown about this meat allergy.\u200d It is unclear how long it takes for symptoms\u2062 to develop, \u200cand\u2064 researchers are \u2063unsure of how to combat \u200bthe syndrome.<\/p>\n<p>According to Murphy, &#8220;Once you have alpha-gal, your\u2063 future is somewhat uncertain in regard to the kind of restrictions you\u200c might have and what you can eat \u2062and what other things you can take in orally, such as \u2063medications.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>If you have been bitten by a tick recently and are experiencing allergic \u200breactions after eating, it is important to contact\u200d your doctor and inform \u2063them of the symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>To avoid developing the red meat allergy, it \u200dis best to prevent tick bites in the first\u200b place. This saliva prompts an immune response similar\u2064 to an allergic reaction.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The tick&#8217;s saliva prompts an immune response \u200bfrom the human body to develop antibodies in an attempt to\u2063 combat \u200cthe foreign substance. However, now \u2064the\u200b immune system has a difficult time determining whether or not the\u200b alpha-gal carbohydrate floating around in your\u200b blood is from the tick or from the burger you \u2063just ate, potentially \u2062resulting in an allergic reaction,&#8221; stated the health agency.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This warning comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported an increase in red meat allergies caused by alpha-gal\u200c syndrome, describing it as an &#8220;emerging public health\u200d concern.&#8221; The condition can be fatal and\u200d occurs after consuming red \u200bmeat or products containing alpha-gal, a type of sugar found in most mammals.<\/p>\n<p>The lone star tick, also known as Amblyomma americanum, can be\u200b found\u200d across the Southeastern\u2062 and Eastern United States, as \u200dwell as in Mexico and parts of Canada.
