It Failed.\">security conditions<\/a> along the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">southern border<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a \u2062letter (<a href=\"https:\/\/homeland.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Joint-letter-to-CBP-07-21-2023.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) to acting U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Troy Miller last month, \u200cMr. Comer and Mr. \u200dGreen shared allegations from a whistleblower that Mr. Bovino\u2019s new \u2064assignment\u200b is \u201cone of no certain mission, \u200dno articulable purpose, and without any timeline of \u2062completion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe whistleblower further alleges that this \u200bpractice \u200cis consistent with the way in which CBP officials have dealt with\u2063 employees who they wish to leave the agency, by placing\u200d maximum pressure on \u200bthem to relocate, retire, or resign,\u201d the Republican lawmakers added in their July letter.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Mr. Comer and \u200bMr. Green celebrated the apparent \u200dreversal in CBP decision-making that allowed Mr. \u200bBovino to return to his post at the El Centro Sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe congratulate \u200cChief Bovino on his rightful reinstatement as\u2064 Chief\u2064 Patrol Agent\u200d for the El Centro \u2062Sector and look forward to his continued dedicated leadership with Border Patrol,&#8221; the Republican lawmakers said in a Monday press statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The credible and unacceptable \u200dallegations of retaliation against \u2062Chief Bovino for simply shining\u200d a light on the Biden administration\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/border-patrol-chief-reinstated-after-his-ouster-sparked-retaliation-claims\/\" title=\"Border Patrol Chief reinstated amid retaliation allegations following his removal.\">historic border\u2062 crisis confirms<\/a> the importance of our Committees\u2019 crucial \u2064oversight effort on behalf of\u200d the American people. Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol Chief Gloria\u2063 Chavez and Tucson \u2063Sector Chief John Modlin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/border-patrol-chiefs-say-walls-would-improve-border-security_5043203.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">did testify<\/a>, but \u200dMr. Bovino and \u2064others did \u2062not appear at the hearing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is unfortunate that you\u2062 are\u200b trying to prevent the American people from hearing candid and truthful testimony of U.S. Border Patrol Chief Patrol Agents,\u201d Mr. Comer wrote in a\u200b Jan. \u200d27 letter \u200b(<a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Letter-to-Secretary-Mayorkas-re-Witness-Invites.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) to Mr. Mayorkas. \u201cThis \u2062is necessary oversight,\u200c which you and your Department \u200bare attempting to block.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After \u200cMr. Bovino and other Border Patrol officials were\u2064 blocked from attending the Feb. 7 hearing, Mr. Comer\u200b sent a letter (<a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/23-02-26-Letter-to-CBP-requesting-TIs-of-CPAs.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) to\u2062 Mr. Miller, requesting that he help facilitate interview times for Mr. Bovino and the other \u2063Border Patrol\u2062 officials. \u200cMr. Bovino appeared before Congress\u2063 for\u200d a transcribed interview on July 12, \u200cshortly before he was informed that he would be reassigned from the El \u200bCentro\u200d Sector.<\/p>\n<p>In their letter to \u200dthe CBP, Mr. Comer \u2064and Mr. Green alleged that, as they sought Mr. Bovino&#8217;s testimony \u200dbefore Congress, the Border Patrol agent &#8220;may have produced written \u200dtestimony in preparation for this hearing \u200cthat was dissatisfactory to CBP officials: so much so that he \u200bwas\u2062 verbally reprimanded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/border-patrol-chief-relieved-of-command-same-day-he-testified-before-congress-raising-retaliation-concerns\/\" title=\"Border Patrol Chief removed after testifying before Congress, sparking retaliation fears.\">headquarters officials<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Republican lawmakers asked Mr. Miller about the decision to reassign\u2064 Mr. \u200cBovino, specifically requesting\u2063 all documents and communications\u2014including \u200bthose involving the Department\u200d of Homeland Security or White House officials\u2014pertaining to whether or not Mr. Bovino\u2062 could testify before Congress.
