Wagner Group Leader Died in Plane Crash<\/h2>\n<p>The White House announced on Monday that it is &#8220;increasingly confident&#8221; that Yevgeny\u2064 Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner Group, died in a recent plane crash in Russia.<\/p>\n<p>During\u2062 a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/newsom-extends-southern-california-stay-at-home-order-for-at-least-another-three-weeks\/\" title=\"Newsom Extends Southern California Stay-at-Home Order For at Least Another Three Weeks\">press briefing<\/a>,\u2063 White House \u2063press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed the \u200cprogress in determining the cause of the crash involving &#8220;Prigozhin&#8217;s \u2063plane.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;We are increasingly confident that Prigozhin died in the plane crash that took place on Aug. 23, this past Wednesday,&#8221; said Russian Investigative Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenk.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, \u200bthe committee did not disclose the cause of \u2064the crash, which occurred between Moscow\u2062 and\u2062 Prigozhin&#8217;s hometown, St. Petersburg.<\/p>\n<p>The timing of the crash raised suspicions of\u2064 a potential orchestrated action by the Kremlin. Given Prigozhin&#8217;s history, there were speculations that he might not have been on the plane \u2063or could have evaded\u200d the fatal \u2063outcome.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier statements from Russian authorities indicated that the passengers included \u200bPrigozhin and another high-ranking figure\u2063 in Wagner, \u2063Dmitriy \u200dUtkin. Additionally, three individuals from the\u200b flight\u200d crew lost \u200btheir \u200clives \u2062in \u200bthe incident.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2064crash followed Prigozhin&#8217;s leadership in a mutiny against Russia&#8217;s military, leading Wagner forces\u200d from Ukraine toward Moscow. Questions remain\u2063 about his accountability for challenging Putin&#8217;s \u200d23-year rule.<\/p>\n<p>Russian \u2063President \u2064Vladimir Putin condemned the mutiny as an act of &#8220;treason&#8221; at the time and pledged to \u200ctake\u200c action against those \u2063responsible.<\/p>\n<p>Following the plane crash, Putin\u200d extended his condolences to the families \u200dof the victims and acknowledged Prigozhin&#8217;s &#8220;significant contribution&#8221; \u200cto Russia&#8217;s involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;He was a man\u2064 of difficult fate, and he made serious mistakes\u200b in life,&#8221; said Putin.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>An initial assessment\u2062 by U.S. intelligence, based \u200bon anonymous sources, suggested that the deliberate destruction\u200b of the plane was the likely cause of\u200c the crash. This finding further fueled suspicions that\u200b Putin might have\u2062 been the primary instigator.<\/p>\n<p>On Aug. 24, Pentagon press secretary Air Force Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder stated that intelligence\u200d indicated Prigozhin was on the \u2062plane that crashed.
