The federal government wanted it \u200dto go to trial in January, while Trump\u2019s team pushed for April 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThese proposals \u200care obviously very far apart,\u201d Chutkan said \u2064in court. \u201cNeither\u2062 of them is acceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to NBC News, Chutkan \u2062dismissed \u200bthe notion that the date \u2062should \u2062accommodate Trump\u2019s third bid for the presidency. Chutkan reportedly said that the GOP frontrunner would\u2062 have to prioritize his \u200clegal obligations in this case.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Trump attorney John Lauro blasted the \u200bSpecial Counsel\u2019s suggested date, saying that the federal government was running a\u200b \u201cshow trial, not a\u2064 speedy \u2063trial.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former president\u2019s legal team has also argued that an early 2024 date did not \u200d<a title=\"Biden Administration To Lift Canada, Mexico Land Border Travel Restrictions For Fully Vaccinated Foreign Nationals\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-administration-to-lift-canada-mexico-land-border-travel-restrictions-for-fully-vaccinated-foreign-nationals\/\">provide ample time<\/a> to examine evidence during discovery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDiscovery in 2023 is not sitting in a warehouse with boxes \u200cof\u200d paper looking at every single page,\u201d Chutkan noted.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Trump was officially \u2064indicted on a series of \u2062<a title=\"Afghan Refugees Face Federal Charges After Trying To Rape Child, Strangle Woman In Wisconsin: Report\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/afghan-refugees-face-federal-charges-after-trying-to-rape-child-strangle-woman-in-wisconsin-report\/\">federal charges related<\/a>\u2064 to election interference, including conspiracy \u200cto defraud the\u200d United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official \u2063proceeding, obstruction, and conspiracy against the right to vote and to have one\u2019s vote\u2063 counted.
