The campaign labeled Trump&#8217;s\u200d statement as &#8220;fake news.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Trump initially wrote, &#8220;[Rumors] are\u200c strong \u200bin \u2062political circles\u200d that Ron DeSanctimonious, whose\u2063 Presidential run is a shambles,\u200b and whose poll\u200c numbers have absolutely crashed, putting him 3rd and 4th in some states, will be dropping \u2064out of the Presidential race in order\u2063 to run,\u200c in Florida, against Rick Scott for Senate. Now that&#8217;s an \u2064interesting one, isn&#8217;t it?&#8221; Trump later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-12453941\/Trump-claims-roomer-Ron-DeSantis-drop-2024-race-run-Senate-typo-ridden-social-media-rant.html\">deleted<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/110967780621020321\">reposted<\/a> the\u2062 statement to correct spelling and grammatical \u2062issues.<\/p>\n<p>The response from \u200dDeSantis Campaign\u200b Press Secretary\u200d Bryan Griffin was swift: &#8220;This is fake\u2064 news. According\u200d to new data from a\u2064 FiveThirtyEight\/Washington\u200c Post\/Ipsos \u2064poll, Republican \u2063voters who watched the debate gave DeSantis a\u200d slight edge over political newcomer Vivek Ramaswamy. \u2063DeSantis received 29% of\u200b the\u2064 vote, while \u2064Ramaswamy received 26% and \u2064Haley received 15%.<\/p>\n<p>The poll also revealed \u200dthat DeSantis gained ground in total support \u2062among debate viewers,\u200b with those considering voting for\u2064 him rising from 63% to\u200d 67.5%, while Trump&#8217;s \u200bsupport among debate \u200bwatchers decreased from 66.2% to 61.4%.<\/p>\n<p>The Washington Post poll also measured the candidates&#8217; favorable and unfavorable ratings\u200d among debate viewers.
