School staff \u2062must\u2064 inform parents in writing within three days if a student falls under either of these categories.<\/p>\n<h3>Small Businesses Feel Abandoned by Lawmakers\u200d Amid Spike in Retail Thefts<\/h3>\n<p>Meanwhile, small businesses are expressing\u2062 their helplessness \u2064over \u2064a surge in retail thefts and \u2062claim they have been \u200dabandoned by lawmakers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The forced outing policy wrongfully endangers the physical, mental, \u2063and emotional \u2064well-being of non-conforming students\u2062 who lack \u2064an accepting environment \u2064in the classroom and at home,&#8221; Bonta\u200d stated in a press release.\u200b &#8220;Our message to Chino Valley \u200dUnified and all school districts in California is \u2062loud and clear: We will \u200dnever stop fighting \u2062for the civil rights\u200d of LGBTQ+ students.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Chino Valley Unified Board passed the controversial rule with a 4-1 vote last month, leading to protests from hundreds of\u200c individuals. Sonja Shaw, \u200bthe Board president and \u200ba parent, defended the \u2064rule\u200b as a means to protect parental rights.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will stand our ground and protect our children with all we can because we are not breaking the law,&#8221; Shaw \u2062told the Los Angeles Times in response\u200b to Bonta&#8217;s lawsuit.\u200d &#8220;Parents have a\u2063 constitutional right \u200din the upbringing \u200cof\u2064 their children, period.
